Have you used ati overdrive? If so, what do you think the best course of action would be: Set it high, but run the risk of burning things out, find a balance of higher than factory settings but low enough to not do harm, or to just not use it at all? lol

So your solution is to let the application control the AA and AF settings? That's pretty bad... if someone really wants performance over quality, they need to set no AA and no AF on the driver level and also disable Vsync. Some games might not let you disable AF or even AA on certain graphics settings.

2.- about the same gaming situation, i like to add mods to my game which makes the game lagg while i play. could i fix this problem by adding more ram memory which is already 2gb, or should i upgrade my video card? by modding the game i meen i add things to the game that the game's maker did not intend for the game to have.

depends on the video card you have. and what the mod does. 2GB of ram is on the lower end of gaming rigs, but its not bad. however if your rocking a video card with 256MB of ram it might be time for a upgrade.

Could also be your CPU slacking if you have a nice video card.

hey i have two questions. 1.- I have a vista comp with a aftermarket 500gb sata hard drive because my factory 320gb sata II hard drive gave out. also i play vidoe games on my comp. now that i have this new hard drive, i installed my game and it says my screen resolution is to high. i set the resolution to the lowest setting and it still says to high which prevents me from playing my game. my windows experience index is 3.0 because my game graphics is 3.0. How can i fix this problem?

move the config file for that particular game out of its folder and try it again. the game ought to write a new config file with default settings.

well see there is two games im speaking about, one is juiced 2 hin and it says my screen resolution is to large even when i set it to the lowest setting. second game in grand theft auto sa and thats the game that i mod, the gta game will play with mods, but like i say it lags alot. i guess my first step would be to upgrade my video card then see what that does and go from there. also thanks for getting back at me with some anwsers. i posted that comment like a week ago so... cool thanks.

oh oh oh is the mod called ENB series? I myself mod GTA:SA a little bit. Have you tried SA:MP? That mod kicks hilarious ass man.anyways if it is that ENB series mod, then yea you need alot of ram for that particular mod to run good. It also runs better on Vista since Ambient occlusion is only available in DX10. so if your in XP disable AO in the .cfg files and you'll get a significant boost in fps. But you'd really want a card like a Nvidia GTX260 896MB Core 216 for this day and age.

well you dont need 8gb of ram.. thats why your not seeing a perfomance increase.. 4 gb of ram is SUPER FAST, now when you get to 8gb its nice, but not needed.. unless you make movies and create music and shit

@geloval994 , no you cannot , the GPU's model should be the same. In some cases you can mix certain 4800 series but not the 4770 and the 4760. The 4770 uses the RV740 GPU and the 4760 uses the RV730 GPU, they arent the same.

In your display advanced settings look for similar options to change.  You might not have these options becasue your video card is not a a true 3D video Card.
