Something you could do to make this more useful for a hockey player is when you get the puck on your blade throw it up straight into the air slightly higher than your head, then once the puck falls to shoulder height or lower try and bat the puck in the direction of the net. This will help improve your puck batting skills when you are close to the goal.

2 grasp your hand around the puck. make sure you got a tight grip!
