It's really quite sad that he has dropped out of the running. As far as this issue goes, I think Clinton is doing an amazing job. We should have universal health care, at least then, people who have to have surgery or need a lot of medication, can actually afford it. It's just awful that if you don't have health insurance and you develop cancer, you're screwed because you will be hard to find an insurance company that will help you out. Most will dismiss you in a heartbeat.
I think it is absolutely horrid that as one of the richest countries in the world, we can't even provide the citizens with health care, something that no human being should be denied for any reason. My family can barely afford health care but we have no choice but to have it. 2 prescriptions alone for us cost $3200 and that's not even close to half of the medication we get.
John Edwards is an American success story. Hr is speaking for the middle class and the poor. I think Hillary and Barack try to stay away from these topics because of Republicans. Edwards has seen his son die, his father work in the mills and his wife deal with breast cancer. He is going all out with the real truth for us the middle class and the poor who make up the majority in this country.
I an not an American. I lived in a country that has "free" health care. I want you people to understand something.... just because it is free does not mean it is good. The fact of the matter is in the real world you get what you pay for.
not only is America free of so called socialized medicine, but we pay 200% more then any other country. Thanks to the freedom of information act we now know that our government (Nixon) new that himself and many others would get rich from the whole insurance system. LOOK IT UP. its public information. You will be shocked to hear the actual tapes. Yet as Americans we stand by and allow it to happen. We are the patriots. Stand Up! Let your voice be heard.
ox signs are hitler, saddam, pol pot, emperor hirohito, ho chi minh, napoleon bonaparte then obama...
Barack Obama born August 4, 1961 is leo ox an opportunistic neurotic sign with full of charisma like napoleon bonaparte leadership. soon this ox is capable of planting bomb on earth the destroying our world too, yes i will vote him!!!
staahl, I understand your point, but we shouldn't turn the healthcare issue over to the Federal Government, but rather to the people. Now what I mean by "to the people" is through the states, and the people's choice through electing their state legislators whether their state will insure those who are unable to afford healthcare even after a true free market is able to occur(back to deregulating and nonrestrictive measures). All I call for is that we follow the guidelines of the Constitution.
wolfmother100000: Here's another point as well (not directed at you):
If you're for Univ Healthcare, look at what's happening to Samuel Golubchuk, an 84 yr old in Canada on a respirator. This man is fighting for his life...literally. Samuel is conscience, however, the Canadian govt is telling him & the family there will be no more payment for the respirator & it will be unplugged. Samuel will die now because the GOVERNMENT is in control. Google it......
The USA is one of the most powerful and richest country in the world but still many people are unable to get healthcare. It makes you look very bad and greedy in the eyes of the rest of the world. You can afford this. The thought of social safety is worth more than one gallon of extra gas.

If the Devil offers me his support, I'd turn it down. Murdoch is the Anti-Christ to Democrates! What if Edwards ACCEPTED support from Bill O'Reily or Obama ACCEPTED support from Dick Cheney?
Ambulance chasers like Edwards with their frivilous lawsuits as well as illegals being provided with free hospital care are the main reason health care costs are out of control. If the government put a stop to this, the employers could afford to provide their workers health care. This would work better than "Universal Healthcare" which would cost the average citizen plenty of money in taxes.
I think he brings up a good point about Healthcare, I am not sure exactly of his plan but I think it seems better than Ron Paul's. Eventhough I support Ron Paul on most other issues except Healthcare.
The big flaw in your argument though in what you call "Free healthcare", is absolutely not free, but rather through raising taxes on Americans. Even John Edwards admits that there is no way to get around that fact.
And so what? You aldready have ridiciously low taxes. A little bit more wouldn't kill anyone. Take sweden again for example. Sweden has the highest tax rate in the world and still we are one of the richer countries.
One way to finance free healthcare for all you americans would bo to stop the war. The war itself creates more terrorists than it's killing. Besides it gives americans a very bad name around the world, wich is a shame.
Hey buddy I am for a humble foreign policy, not one which the neocons have hijacked into the republican party. I was for the war in Afghanistan because it was in response to the attacks of 9/11, but I was against the War in Iraq because it did not pose a direct threat to the United States.
In terms of what you said about taxes, it goes against the entire foundation of our country. The government does not need to go into the direction of socialism (which is what it has under the control of both the Democrats and Republicans), but in a more limited government stance laid out by the Founding Fathers in the United States Constitution granting more power to the citizens and not to the tyrannical Federal Government.
Government should move in the direction of cutting first the role of the Federal Government and Federal Spending (returning powers to the states as granted by the Constitution and 10th Amendment), and then cutting taxes (because if we cut taxes and still increase spending like the Republicans did between 2000-2006, we will just push the burden to the next generation insuring tax hikes)
I understand your point. Yes, free healthcare would cost much and raise taxes slightly in your country, and yes it would be a very small step towards socialism. But still it's EXTREMLY far from true socialism. Think about it, isn't it worth it?

because they only gave him 1 minute parhaps? There are many ways to finance free health care. One way is stopping the war that's creating more terrorist than it's killing.
Most of what Edwards say is generalized "cheerleading" material. However, he has said he wants to increase minimum wage, which will of course increase the cost of most everything. Couple that with his ALREADY promised tax increase for Univ Health Care & the personal bankruptcy courts will bust at the seams.
your a loser man you need to sit this one out and folks i think we all know the white people who are in charge of this country are no good they only care about them selfs we need a non white Washington so vote non white and lets get our country back from the white devils
Keep fighting for Universal health care, we need this so desperately. What blows my mind, is why more people don" c this. When they have to watch their parents, child, or loved one die simply because they have not enough insurance or no insurance mayb, they will wake up, mayb? Keep up the good fight, I certainly will.
Even though I disagree with John Edwards, I still respect him for allowing my message to go through. I posted a similar message on one of Hillary Clinton's videos, and she didn't even allow it to be seen, that shows what is wrong with politics today.
Again, I wanted to say thank you for honoring the principle of Freedom of Speech unlike your opponent.
How bout we not look toward Big Brother to fix our problems, but let an actual "free market" play out. We need to scrap all state restrictions and mandates, because only then will we have a consumer friendly form of health care.
The goal is to not have government fix our problems (which they cannot), but pursue freedom and liberty how our Founding Fathers intended.
Listen as a tax payer I will gladly pay a little more on my taxes..If I now there will be national health care. For to long the american people has sufferd with there meds and not being able to afford to go to the hospital. We have to make a change. If other countrys like Canada France and even Cuba has national health care then why not us.I hope someone reads this comment who has the power to help change this country for the better. Thanks for reading my comment. And God Bless America..
USCstudent: Remember when we were replying back & forth? My comments are gone. So much for free speech. I guess Edwards is in the liberal practice mode of trying to control everyone's thoughts, ideas & opinions.
I'm so excited about your candidacy! If you are elected, I trust in your word that you will raise taxes again. Since 50% of my income goes towards taxes already, I believe I'll be better off collecting welfare or maybe try to get Soc Security benefits because of my charlie horses. I certainly won't have to worry about a health ins policy anymore with you in office! I'll have everything I need from the working ppl in America. Good luck John!
Where socialist people is at power we see that they get even more frivolous things than others. Here is not a matter of party, but a matter of justice. It's not wrong to pay more taxes, but it's wrong that only WE are compelled to pay more taxes. The plan must be made for all the Country, not only for SOME people.
Oh yeah? Clue me in because the US is the only western industrialized country without universal health care and we are the only country with a obvious $2 trillion dollar problem. The said thing is our country is sucessfully implementing universal health care in Iraq and Afghanastan as we speak; what about us?
So many people think that obtaining a job and working hard will somehow protect them against getting a catastrophic illness (and losing that job and their insurance). But the loss of both happened to me and it can happen to you. Wake up; the diseases don't give a damn how hard you work or what political party you support. The US now spends over twice as much per person than any other country on health care; we can actually save money by fixing the mess.
There is not any discussion of reform of the medical industry to take the medical care from the hands of the AMA and give it government regulations that make it work. There is not any listing of diseases and cures that can be referred to when you want to see if you are receiving the standard care.
Hey John, stop trying to buy votes from people by tempting them with free healthcare. Didn't you make a career out of suing doctors, in turn helping to raise insurance rates. You're part of the problem!
Yeah, and Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Japan, have it all wrong...They have free universal health care for all their citizens and they are suffering as a result..ha!! Truth is, they are living much longer and healthier lives than the average American. Get your conservative heads out of your asses and look at working examples of universal health care.
I did something about it Johnny! I put my ass through school, worked hard and got a good career that offers health insurance, why should the govt. do everything to correct the bad choices people made in their lives? They screw up everything they touch.
So being poor, not being able to afford health insurance or better yet, college, then getting a minimum wage job which offers no health insurance is a bad choice?
All I heard was blah blah blah blah blah blah from EVERYONE. Just the same old contrived fake ass speeches JUST TO GET A VOTE. Absolutely amazing that people buy their nonsense.
John Edwards's health-care plan has been endorsed by Paul Krugman. It doesn't solve the whole problem, but is a major step forward.
I currently pay nearly $100 per month for Medicare Part B. I am not very happy with the terms (no dental) - but I think many working families would be delighted to sign up for my coverage, at this price.
John Edwards's plan would allow this. Let private insurers wither on the vine.
Our health is at stake here! United States is the only Western industrialized nation without healthcare. Kucinich is the only canidate who is part of the HR 676 bill. Check his videos out to learn more about "real" healthcare.
We must also make sure and not forget the people that fall between the cracks. The ones that make too much money to be considered poor and the ones that are still too poor to be able to afford the care needed.
You have got to be kidding!! How can anyone take this idiot seriously regarding healthcare.
This scumbag ambulance chaser made his wealth by extorting millions from doctors in bogus lawsuits. Blaming doctors for babies born with cerebral palsy claiming that they caused it, and selling that snake oil with courtroom dramatics.
JOHN EDWARDS is as responsible as anyone for the current state of our healthcare system.
So what's your solution, genius? Armed revolution with a benevolent dictator at its head? Anarchy isn't sustainable because of the human desire for power. Voting for the lesser of two evils is the only weapon we got.
Edwards strong arguments ,,, Clinton proposed universal health care long time ago .... nothing happened ,,,,, EDWARDS for president who will finally correct USA HEALTH CARE .....
Why is this country so afraid of ensuring health care for its citizens and so brave when it comes to fighten the War on Terror? We probably don't have enough doctors if everyone was insured.
What the hell did you just say? We probably don't have enough doctors if everyone was insured? No. You don't know how a hospital works. Plus, you don't have to have insurance to recieve medical care. Nurses have more patient contact than doctors and thats a fact coming from someone who works at a hospital.
Edwards is a SOLID candidate.....I suggest that he consider a plan of action similar to the plan recently instituted in Massachusetts.....private still, but with some gov't oversight and regulation, and emphasis on lowering costs and getting ALL (not just children) covered.
Health care expensive and sucks for one reason: the government has granted a monopolies to the American Medical Association and FDA-pharmaceutical complex. The US has the lowest number of physicians and hospital beds per capita of any industrial nation according to the OECD. Supply is being artificially restricted.
The healthcare system was destroyed by design. By universal healthcare they mean mandatory healthcare including mandatory psychological examinations and medications.
all fluff and no substance, typical of nearly everything he has had to say on every topic. I have yet to hear anything original or even a coherant plan for ANYTHING. the only thing I got out of this talking point was that you were ready to go sue insurance and pharmacutical companies.
What is your stance on federal funding for stem cell research? There are so many Americans that would benefit from this therapy; I would benefit from this therapy! If you need proof, I encourage you to go on youtube, karena321. Thank you for your time.
okay edwards... your answer to that was what? did i miss something? like duh! i am a disabilities advocate. wanna go up against me? answer to me personally?
hey everyone check this site out for great health products to help you in life and downthe road with greta results... the site is totallynaturallyliving and the refrence # is 893432
Example, look at Ireland. A country who has no problem with a flat tax. Extra money could also be made by allowing advertisement on postage stamps. It would be a huge business. Making much more than what they make on them currently.
I figure a flat tax, percentage not a certain amount, given by everyone would help. From what I gathered Craigo87 is thinking I'm meaning that a flat tax as being a certain amount that someon would pay each year. I'm referring to a percentage of thier income. Then drop a sales tax and all the other nonsense.
Actually, I pay a hell of a lot for insurance and I just pay for myself. I pay around $180 a month for just myself. I'm glad I don't have a family because I would be paying almost $600 a month as many of my co-workers do. It is just crazy. There can be something done about healthcare. Another problem that I find myself in is with my grandparents. It has been hell trying to get them into an assisted living place.
After my husband took his own life on December 25th 2003 and was employed by the city for 30 yrs. He payed a 175.00 month for a family of 4.I choose to retain the same health Insurance same benifits with Blue Cross Blue Sheild.I now pay for just myself and one other at an alarming rate of 900.00 a month not including eye care and dental. You would think 30 years service with the city would demand a better rate(Union). And for those who want to say"don't pay" Don't say.
Craigo87. You get a clue. Yes triple and quadrupal taxing. You get taxed out of your paycheck, then there is a sales tax, then there is a property tax.... Also, when you take money out of your retirement or 401k early then you get taxed before you recieve the money and then taxed again at the end of the year. So, now that I just proved a point, you get a clue. A flat tax would only tax you once.
kpasa01: I would rather that the money that comes out of my check goes to a system where the overhead is < 5%.Not the 30% insurance companies make.Doesn't anything come out of your check for healthcare now? Do you like the fact that 30% of that goes to middlemen? It is an extremely inefficient system we have now.
I just saw the other democratic candidates... I gotta say Edwards seems like the most honest... But probably only because he's stupid and has that wholesome "good ole boy" optimistic attitude.
Bullshit. Healthcare is fucked up and its going down the drain. Social Security will no longer exist within 20 more years. No one ever bothers to speak the truth about it. There are not enough tax payers to make up for the lazyness of people. There needs to be a flat tax and the bullshit of triple and quadrupal taxing america has got to stop. Its hard for the common working man to make it now because of the amount of taxes he has to pay.
kpasa01, The flat tax you propose would give a larger tax break to the top 5% and increase the burden of taxes on the lower/middle class. Social Security can exist with a simple increase to the cap from $90k income to say $120k income. Healthcare is a mess, the program Edwards proposes would significantly improve it. Finally, what, huh? Triple, quadrupal taxing? Sounds like Limbaugh nonsense. Get a reality check.
Why not look more into market-based reforms and tax changes to make health insurance more affordable, as well as elimination of state regulations that limit consumer choice. This article, Healthcare coverage for all: hits, misses and possible fixes, discusses the problems that arise when state and federal gov. try to provide insurance for all.
okay what is this guys policy. he didnt say anything, he just told a story, besides follow his campiagn money, he bought out by insurances and investment banks. how can we trust these top candidates. to do what they say. look at the pelosi congress. are we out of iraq, what happened to the time table....
Answer: THE REPUBLICANS IN THE SENATE FILIBUSTERED IT! I know we have really shitty news channels, but don't you remember the "senate sleepover" a couple of weeks ago. Harry Reid had about 53 votes lined up to PASS a bill that would start to pull troops out in April. The Republicans in the Senate would not even allow a vote on it!
i didnt say he was the problem but he is part of the problem. What is the difference between a trial lawyer and insurance company. No difference. You do know that most of the lawsuits faced with doctors are excessive and are part of the reason why health care costs are so high in america compared to other countries.
You are utterly and completely wrong. You need trial lawyers because of insurance companies and incompetent doctors. Studies have shown that litigation cost do not affect the cost of health care. Even if it did, so what? If the cost of health care goes up because an insurance company had to pay the parents of a child that a doctor killed due to incompetence, that is fine with me.
yes exactly that is why health care costs are high. I think the people are exaggerating the fact that costs are high bc of insurance companies, but fail to mention that the reason they dont cover a lot of benefits is because it is too expensive and the main reason is the high salaries of doctors and hospitals. And why is that? Bc of the nature of the job.
Doctors more than any other profession are the highest paid along with lawyers. But the main reason why doctors get paid so much is bc. of the nature of the job and unneccesary litigation costs. They are not the only problem but u have to admit they are part of the problem. And look at the cases john edwards covered as a lawyer. Most of them have been unnecessary cases and has been a loss of millions of dollars for doctors and insurance companies that cover the doctors.
so my point is not only does the government have to shift the middle man, which are the insurance companies, but cut down on the losses that result from litigation costs.I am not saying patients shouldnt sue doctors, i think they should have that right, but only the cases that show real imcompetence from doctors and it shouldnt be used for profit making purposes from patients which they often do.
you're basically saying that we should fight for our lives. even a hardened free market economist can see the argument that our health care industry is a market failing.
last time i checked, john edwards was a lawyer who sued doctors and increased the cost of health care. How is he gonna fix that? By having government pay for these trial lawyers. Disgusting, john edwards can never be president bc he was a trial lawyer and he was part of the problem for health care.
Socialized healthcare will result in worse health care for all of us and longggg waits. Look at Britain. People die before they can ge tthe surgery needed to save them
Get Real. I have friends in the UK, and while the system has its flaws it also provides most people without private insurance, the basic needs that millions of our citizens DO NOT have. We already have people dying for lack of medicine and the most basic of medical care here as we speak. The implementation of Universal health care is NOT intended to replace private care, but to insure that those who do NOT have coverage, can get medical attention.
No it won't. You're just repeating lies that greedy, elitists want you to believe. Millions of Americans never get to see a doctor no matter how sick they are. Talk about waiting. What you really meant was, it's alright with you if people suffer as long as you can get a same day doctor appointment. Go work on your soul because that is the sickest part of you.
*continued*.. be paying in place of them... which means higher taxes. I'm not saying that US has it right.. But I do believe that an integration of socialzed healthcare and private health care would be the best...Those who can afford it should be able to by pass the lines and those who can't should be able to wait in the longer one.
sigh anyways... I will admit that socialized health care does have it's flaws...one of them being how the senior's don't have to pay taxes... Once the baby boomers retire, a large amount of tax payers won't be paying taxes. Which means we will...
So for those who don't study hard in school, they should be punished by having limited or no health care at all? That doesn't seem quite right... Everyone has the right to good health regardless of the level of education they recieve...Also, I believe all the other first nations ie. Japan, Europe, Australia have socialized health care... they seem to be doing quite well for themselves...You can't really say Japan is full of people who are lazy and don't work hard...
Certainly Abe Lincoln educated himself. Sure others don't have a good enough parental system. That is why one of my solutions is mentoring (see my verifiable successful welfare reform solution from 1995 on my web site). After that there is Elder care facilities opening up to latch key kids after school for mentoring (another of my successful solutions). franklinlacydot___.
America is the richest nation the world... why can't you change the system for the lower class? Last time I checked, wait time is around 8 months to a year in Canada for non life threatening surgery... It does suck that you have to wait in line but the line is so long because EVERYONE is in it. I'm sure that the line would be long in America as well if everyone in the country had access to healthcare.
Last time I checked, the wait time for that guy Edwards mentioned was 50 YEARS. Just to put "8 months ... for non life threatening surgery" in perspective.
Why do the private health insurance companies always use hip replacement surgery waiting times to compare countries? Because most hip replacement surgery in the US is covered by Medicare ... government provided health insurance.
I am for healthcare that WON'T cost us taxpayers anything. See my solution which is on the way to passage. Per Hillary C. it will save 100 billion dollars per year.

I personally sued a huge law firm with 22 partners for legal malpractice and won! I had to represent myself because other law firms would not touch it. They have a good ole boys club and fear reciprocal lawsuits. Edwards gets support from fellow lawyers to continue their high lifestyle at the expense of us all imbedded in the high prices we pay.
I personally sued a big law firm and won! Where are the solutions these career politicians have contributed while in office. Promises are empty. I am not in office and have verifiably solved quite a few national and international problems and gotten both parties to implement them. franklinlacydot
There are plenty of people who are sick and suffering for their own faults - smoking, drinking, lack of exercise, poor diet, reckless behavior - should taxpayers pay for them? Where is it written that every person, no matter their situation, no matter the cause, has a 'right' to health care? The most compassionate option - and the most fair - is returning health care to the free market. RON PAUL!

ok you have got my attention. MR. Edwards seems to be the only guy taking issue with the countries real problems wich is health care immigration poverty and jobs. who cares about what happens in darfur or any other lame ass backwards country thats there problem I want a canadate who will help the USA.screw every one else. stop sending these back ward third world scum bags my tax dollars .

Yes but it is the truth, whether or not my style should be subject to criticism. I read each comment and respond as I see appropriate. Sometimes youtube messed up and ran them all together when I replied individually.
the only thing he care about is his $400.00 hair cuts tell him to give that money to people who need it and get a $10.00 haircut like the real people of this country

Maybe if all the insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and any other company that's afforded Edwards the life he leads were not already in his pocket he might could actually stand up to them!
So 2% malpractice costs are more important than 30% administration costs? Man, I got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you, as well as waterfront property in the Everglades.
Oh how the mighty have fallen... John Edwards better get used to poverty. Its coming at him fast!

Stand Up! Let your voice be heard.

staahl, I understand your point, but we shouldn't turn the healthcare issue over to the Federal Government, but rather to the people.

For all of you thinking that the democrats are even close to communism: think again.
The democrats are comparable with the swedish right wing. Even our swedish left wing is far from true communism.
Free healthcare has nothing to do with communism, just basic emapthy.
staahl 4 years ago
The big flaw in your argument though in what you call "Free healthcare", is absolutely not free, but rather through raising taxes on Americans. Even John Edwards admits that there is no way to get around that fact.
WOLFMOTHER100000 4 years ago

WOLFMOTHER100000 4 years ago
In terms of what you said about taxes, it goes against the entire foundation of our country. The government does not need to go into the direction of socialism (which is what it has under the control of both the Democrats and Republicans), but in a more limited government stance laid out by the Founding Fathers in the United States Constitution granting more power to the citizens and not to the tyrannical Federal Government.
WOLFMOTHER100000 4 years ago
Government should move in the direction of cutting first the role of the Federal Government and Federal Spending (returning powers to the states as granted by the Constitution and 10th Amendment), and then cutting taxes (because if we cut taxes and still increase spending like the Republicans did between 2000-2006, we will just push the burden to the next generation insuring tax hikes)
WOLFMOTHER100000 4 years ago
I understand your point. Yes, free healthcare would cost much and raise taxes slightly in your country, and yes it would be a very small step towards socialism. But still it's EXTREMLY far from true socialism. Think about it, isn't it worth it?

How bout we not look toward Big Brother to fix our problems, but let an actual "free market" play out. We need to scrap all state restrictions and mandates, because only then will we have a consumer friendly form of health care.
The goal is to not have government fix our problems (which they cannot), but pursue freedom and liberty how our Founding Fathers intended.

But the loss of both happened to me and it can happen to you. Wake up; the diseases don't give a damn how hard you work or what political party you support. willb48 4 years ago

Example, look at Ireland. A country who has no problem with a flat tax. Extra money could also be made by allowing advertisement on postage stamps. It would be a huge business. Making much more than what they make on them currently.
kpasa01 4 years ago
I figure a flat tax, percentage not a certain amount, given by everyone would help. From what I gathered Craigo87 is thinking I'm meaning that a flat tax as being a certain amount that someon would pay each year. I'm referring to a percentage of thier income. Then drop a sales tax and all the other nonsense.
kpasa01 4 years ago
Actually, I pay a hell of a lot for insurance and I just pay for myself. I pay around $180 a month for just myself. I'm glad I don't have a family because I would be paying almost $600 a month as many of my co-workers do. It is just crazy. There can be something done about healthcare. Another problem that I find myself in is with my grandparents. It has been hell trying to get them into an assisted living place.

After my husband took his own life on December 25th 2003 and was employed by the city for 30 yrs. You would think 30 years service with the city would demand a better rate(Union). And for those who want to say"don't pay" Don't say.
TallLady61 4 years ago
A flat tax would only tax you once.
kpasa01 4 years ago
kpasa01: I would rather that the money that comes out of my check goes to a system where the overhead is < 5%.Not the 30% insurance companies make.Doesn't anything come out of your check for healthcare now? Its hard for the common working man to make it now because of the amount of taxes he has to pay.
kpasa01 4 years ago
kpasa01, The flat tax you propose would give a larger tax break to the top 5% and increase the burden of taxes on the lower/middle class. Social Security can exist with a simple increase to the cap from $90k income to say $120k income. Healthcare is a mess, the program Edwards proposes would significantly improve it. Finally, what, huh? Triple, quadrupal taxing? Sounds like Limbaugh nonsense. Get a reality check.

marko95403 4 years ago
i didnt say he was the problem but he is part of the problem. What is the difference between a trial lawyer and insurance company. No difference. You do know that most of the lawsuits faced with doctors are excessive and are part of the reason why health care costs are so high in america compared to other countries.
nader85021 4 years ago
You are utterly and completely wrong. You need trial lawyers because of insurance companies and incompetent doctors. Studies have shown that litigation cost do not affect the cost of health care. Even if it did, so what? If the cost of health care goes up because an insurance company had to pay the parents of a child that a doctor killed due to incompetence, that is fine with me.
nycsquid 4 years ago
yes exactly that is why health care costs are high. I think the people are exaggerating the fact that costs are high bc of insurance companies, but fail to mention that the reason they dont cover a lot of benefits is because it is too expensive and the main reason is the high salaries of doctors and hospitals. And why is that? Bc of the nature of the job.
nader85021 4 years ago
Doctors more than any other profession are the highest paid along with lawyers. But the main reason why doctors get paid so much is bc. of the nature of the job and unneccesary litigation costs. They are not the only problem but u have to admit they are part of the problem. And look at the cases john edwards covered as a lawyer. Most of them have been unnecessary cases and has been a loss of millions of dollars for doctors and insurance companies that cover the doctors.
nader85021 4 years ago
so my point is not only does the government have to shift the middle man, which are the insurance companies, but cut down on the losses that result from litigation costs.I am not saying patients shouldnt sue doctors, i think they should have that right, but only the cases that show real imcompetence from doctors and it shouldnt be used for profit making purposes from patients which they often do.
nader85021 4 years ago

Socialized healthcare will result in worse health care for all of us and longggg waits. Look at Britain. People die before they can ge tthe surgery needed to save them
AndrewFisher16 4 years ago
Get Real. I have friends in the UK, and while the system has its flaws it also provides most people without private insurance, the basic needs that millions of our citizens DO NOT have. We already have people dying for lack of medicine and the most basic of medical care here as we speak. The implementation of Universal health care is NOT intended to replace private care, but to insure that those who do NOT have coverage, can get medical attention.
ladytrebb 4 years ago
No it won't. You're just repeating lies that greedy, elitists want you to believe. Millions of Americans never get to see a doctor no matter how sick they are. Talk about waiting. sigh anyways...

I meant to say Average wait time... My father had a similar operation done on his eye and he had to wait around 6 months for it to be done...

Why do the private health insurance companies always use hip replacement surgery waiting times to compare countries? Because most hip replacement surgery in the US is covered by Medicare ... government provided health insurance.

Edwards is the best candidate by far. Ron Paul is a close second.

I am for healthcare that WON'T cost us taxpayers anything. See my solution which is on the way to passage. Per Hillary C. it will save 100 billion dollars per year.
See my video at franksolutions or my web site which is m name Also it has a workable suicide bomber solution that the government is adapting, Also I have a comprehensive Illegal Immigrant Solution that will work. franklinlacydot

RON PAUL!

Since each reply flags people individually, I might make the same reply to more than one if it is appropriate. The truth is I have solved a lot of problems as can be verified on my web site. Why not Edwards in a position of authority. franklinlacydot___ .

Lord, I shudder to think that the only reason someone isn't going to vote for John Edwards is because of the $400 haircut.
Look at the big picture, people!

surely you can do better than that...

Medical insurance cost are so high because of lawyers like Edwards .

So 2% malpractice costs are more important than 30% administration costs? Man, I got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you, as well as waterfront property in the Everglades.
