Excellent video, really informative. Yeah I am as excited as you are. I just ordered NVIDIA's new textbook, should be here by the end of the week. Your program looks really good but it would be nice to have a time counter in it, it's hard to tell how much time has passed as the water is moving, and maybe a specific color for where there is no water(black?).
if it was 3D and generally available and practical it would be very very cool. but as it is it is just another in a long line of CFD applications that are useless for one reason or another.
Currently it is being used in a doctoral thesis. That is the reason I didn't publish this on sourceforge yet. After my client's disertation is complete, it will be available.
but 2D is useless though. we need 3D. the world is not 2D. it would be really awesome if it could be 3D but you have to understand that 2D is perfectly useless in reality. good for kindergarten, not reality
We know, it has since been updated to include 3D. We can't update this video however since it goes against our non-disclosure agreement on the progress of the work. Don't worry though, it will be available to the general public in a couple of years (after the disertation is complete).
One must never ask how long someone's disertation will take. I would say though, safely in two to three years. I'd like to release a binary and code solution (compiling is a pain for most people).
As for the accuracy, it is following the best known approximations for fluid dynamics. CUDA is limited to floating point, if that ever changes it should be easy to update that to double percision.
maybe Nvidia could use their GPGPU systems to compute a more efficient cooler for their cards...

@197022007
its called upgrading your cooling.

yay! :)
what time frame are we talking?
will it be an app or do you have to compile setup?
and is it physically accurate?

one must not? :)
one must not use bad excuses to delay release of software that will benefit mankind. and yes of course it should be compiled. just do it already.
2-3 year delay is 15 billion man years wasted. think a little

btw, I imagine 32bit precision is plenty compared to other inacurracies in the model.

Again, the code is for someone's thesis. And they do not wish for the software to be available at this time. Otherwise I would.

he is wrong then. try to change his mind

it's amazing that a thing like that exists
