when i put this in rybka it said it was a draw at first but when i did it again white won but hardly. the pawn structure was whites advantage in the endgame.
Hi - thankyou for all your vids - ps i just wanted to know how do you get rybka/fritz to infantly analise the position and show more than two lines of analysis - you had 16 diffrent lines at one point , mine only ever shows 2 lines no matter what engine i use, Can you help?
We have comprehensive chess openings and ece encyclopedia of chess endings to train with along with nearly 5 million game database, and nearly 180,000 annotated games. We use multi-engine analysis and teach you how to configure various (400) engines to play by rating or theme. You should stop by sometime online.
I help show you how to do it solo and to pass it on or be a teacher/coach. I'm working towards an MBA in business management oneday. I want to open a coaching business someday. We will be online so just stop at the chatroom and watch the board. It is free and you can take lessons or get lectures or emails. I am consistent 2300 elo and want to be 2700+ oneday. I am thinking of setting up an organization for testing and certification of chess coaches/trainers. I have grad school to finish 1st.
I use Fritz and I try to look more at the engine in combination with understanding the board.
yuo are talking aboout a way how your brains should process to come up with that knight move. I totally agree, BUT I still can't use your tips to get better. I really try but it's hard to find good positions.
Do you have more tips or a good site where I can learn this ?
um im no chess pro, i watched a few of your movies, your pretty good but at 4:21 around there , dosnt king HAVE to move from G8 -> F8 or else be checkmated from castle if it moves to D8?
Great to address a now widely known technique used to study one's own games the beneficial and proper way by using the software available today. Keep em coming Manju
Great video, and quite fundamentally important in the current age of Engines - the "Engine era" we are now in.
I think you make a very good point about not just thinking of post-mortem analysis for finding particular moves you could have played, but something more "fundamental" than that - which can apply to different positions.
Yes sjakkspiller, the second line can be found by humans if we focus on the diagonal a2-f7 and blocking the defence of e6 by placing the knight on d6. We threaten then 2.Qe6+, Kh8 3.Nf7+ Kg8 3. Nh6+ Kh8 4. Qg8 Rxg8 and Nf7 mate. A well known mate pattern that we all dream to execute one day. ;-)
So by looking at characteristics of the position, positional concepts and tactical motives we can find the right moves, without being robots like Fritz that calculate millions of moves in a few seconds.

i just put this position in deep rybka 4 and it says this game with best play for black would draw the game.

Fantastic , very instructive...
Masterchess 7000 stockfish engine 1,8 has 1.Nd6 Bxd6 2.Qe6+ Kh8 3.Qxd6 Qxd6 4.Rxd6 Rc8 5.Rxd5 g5 6.Rd2 etc.. as a stronger line.

Thanks very much. A very succinct explanation. You can use the same method to learn from books as well.

Rybka 2.3 prefers after much thought 1.Nd6 with the main line running 1...Bxd6 2.Qxe6+ Kh8 3.Qxd6 Qa5 4.c3 Re8 5.Re7 Qd8 6.Re3! +-

Good video! but it also shows how we humans prefer tactical lines as engines does....We have 2 good lines for white here.
1. 1.Ng5 Qc6 2.Qh5 Qxd7 3.Qxh7+ Kf8 4.Qh8+
2. 1.Nd6 Bxd6 2.Qe6+ Kh8 3.Qxd6 Qxd6 4.Rxd6 Rc8 5.Rxd5 g5 6.Rd2 b4 7.Kf1 Kg7
The second line safer stronger and more practical than the first line.
