I watched my son being born and whilst the delivery was truly amazing, watching my partner in agony for over 12 hours was torture beyond anything i can describe. believe me the payoff is worth it though. My missus said she would do it again 30 mins after the birth. Once the baby is out, the pain is forgotten and the joy takes over. Good luck to all you pregnant ladies.

They could hold on to the side of their bed and squat, or, wrap their arms around a friend or spouse and squat. Some women find that leaning forward on their hands and knees is best. The reason squatting and kneeling are more effective is because it opens the pubic bones. Being upright also uses gravity to move the baby down. Lying on the back is the most inefficient way to birth.

You have to have someone catch the baby whether you are elevated on a delivery bed/table or whether you're kneeling on the floor.
