I copied your design and attached it to my airium piper cub and it works great, only problem is that it forces my plane into a nose up attitude. Do you have any ideas on how to counter this other than trimming the plane? Does anyone know of a way to keep the banner from twirling without using a decent amount of ballast (weight).
DRAGGGGG! Its not as easy as it looks to fly with a banner behind you. Even in the real ones they are flying just over stall speed. Good money to be made tho.
thanks for that, just made a banner for my cousin who died , going to fly with banner on and take it as high as i can in tribute.......R.I.P Fiona (21)
cut the bag to the same 2 strips u want ( same size) and put a paper and write what u want on the paper ( make sure its same length as the bags) and then write ojn both sides same thing, staple or glue it together wala!
I just got done building a 60-size crop duster modelled after the Air Tractor 802F; one of my goals is to haul a banner saying: "SACRAMENTO AREA MODELLERS WELCOME RACE FANS" on race days (these guys race warbirds every month); thanks for the valuable technical advices!!!
I paid part of my way through college by hauling banners up and down the coast of San Diego on weekends. Your video really made me smile, particularly the end with the banner in tow. It looked great!
Hey, EJ... Brought back memories for me, too. I worked for an FBO weekends when I was in college to earn flight hrs in a C-150. Anyway, I'd help get the banners up. It sounded like fun when they said, 2 guys just stand out on the runway with the tow loop for the banner up on 2 poles and wait for the hook to come by and snag it. Well, it's NOT fun standing there holding that pole with a hook coming at you at 70 kts!
Cool vid, usp92! Think I'll do one to tow behind my Nemo. Five stars.
awsome video! do you think it would work with a nitro plane? because i have a little trainer and i wouldn't want to put one on one of my war birds that are nitro or my army cub. or would it be too fast and mess up the banner? i know you would probably have to beef up the banner a little bit. but what do you think ???!?!?!?!?!?!?
do you think this will work on a baby J-3 cub (foam) lol it has a 180 geard motor and 35" wing span on it but i dont know what2 big would be! its just a indoor flyer but sometimes makes a peek out side.
do you thing a T-28 could pull this?

will it work for a .46 sized golderg cub? it is much bigger than the super cub.
mrfourtysevenman 1 year ago
How much does the black thing u attach the string cost or does it come with the plane?
Iguanachief91 1 year ago
I made one for my supercub, and the motor ALMOST burnt out, it died midair and wouldn't start for a few hours, there was way too much drag

You need the banner before the plane will land necessarily release, or is it not really necessary?
ThePilotbj 1 year ago
Can you land with the banner on or do you have to release it b4 landing?

Are the straws nescessary? Sorry for my questions.
MrMortjon 2 years ago
They help it from folding over itself in the air and to make it stay upright and go through the air better, but it might work without them.
uspilot92 2 years ago
Can u make it for a plane that u must throw?
MrMortjon 2 years ago
sure, just make sure the banner doesn't get caught on your arm when you throw it.
