The stone in the mirror was a spell by Dumbledore so that the stone would be released from the mirror and given to someone who wanted to find but not use the stone. Just call me your resident Potter expert :D:D

@danjanth yeah i know, in the books they have lessons and people leave bits of themselves behind and shiz. i did noticed once that each book has a new way of travelling in that harry had never used before Lol.
Ok i am going to be a geek now Daniel and explain a couple things. Portkey's (the boot thing) are used to transport groups to the same location at the same time, and the fireplaces (using Floo Powder) are used as a means of communication as well just transport. In the books it explain that Apparating (the whooshie thing as you called it) is quite difficult and even some adult wizards can't do it without injuring themselves, hence the need for alternative transport. :D i have more so wait!!

@gazerbeam88 Haha no i wont. Atleast i got answers although that aapparating doesnt seem to difficult in last one when they do it every 2 seconds :P
