  • God damn this brings back memories. I'd spend more time in the combat simulator menus listening to all the awesome music than actually playing the game.

  • Pelagic II is awesome as well :)

  • Lmfao. I've actually never played Perfecy Dark. But I recognize this from the Perfect Kirby series on newgrounds XP

  • Half life !!!!

  • this song sucks compared to the other tunes perfect dark has

  • @mau571 Chicago + Extraction X are both comparable to this one, methinks.

  • Hands down one of the best video game tunes ever.

  • for everyone crying for a remake..... there is one... no not zero you idiots!!... its perfect dark hd.. downloadable on the xbox 360.

and yes perfect is the best fps that exists, none comes even close, not even its predeccesor (and kinda overhyped game) goldeneye.

  • by the way, the music in this game is awesome, one of my fav tracks in PD is Chicago Stealth, it's just Perfect! :D

  • " and it has some of the most original weapons in gaming history like the Laptop Gun and the Phoenix for exemple." ... i know, dont forget about the FARSIGHTXR-20 :D!!!

  • RARE in there golden age!

  • dam i love this game

  • once you play this game you can only go downhill there is no game better than it cant wait for the xbla version

btw ithink the best song from the game would have to be

    insitute defence x

  • This game has the BEST weapons i have ever seen in a video game. Their looks, design, sound FX, reload animations, everything! They are unmatched, later generation FPS games have failed to impress me that much in this department.

  • Everyone always says that PD was ahead of its time. I think PD is ahead of OUR time!

  • the skedar ruins theme, dark combat and maian tears are waaayy better than this one. this one is just like the iconic themes IMO

  • No doubt one of

    the

    greatest

    FPS

    games

    EVER

  • HELL YEAH!!!!!!!

  • @FinesseF3 imho it is THE greatest. IDC flame me if you want but PD will always be the #1 FPS to me with some of the greatest sound tracks for a FPS. You could really feel the excitement playing through a level with the PD sound track. Actually I turn off the bgm when I play The Conduit and play some PD tracks instead.

  • @FinesseF3

Unquestionably the very best of the bit era.

  • i like Air Base X better.

    also, Institute Defense.

  • nvr seen a game with such perfect hitboxes in my life and its on a friggen n64

  • wots a hitbox?

  • @hephronss

    Who cares about Hitboxes ?

    It had amazing A. I.

a Story and 30 Weapons with 2 Firemodes

and the Best Multiplayer in a FPS game i ve ever played

  • @Zappafan1980 Hitboxes is something games today still don't get right and PD nailed it, it just goes to shows that it was in some aspects ahead of its time. Great game.

  • @Panther00700

The Enemies in Perfect Dark had like 20 Points were you could hit them and that in the year 2000 ?

I wonder what the Developers do know i heard they made Timesplitters 2 + 3

I forgot there name they are not Rare they left Rare

  • Rare never should have gone to xbox.

  • Indeed

  • Rare shouldnt have been sold to Micosoft, stupid move by Nintendo.

  • They never sold it for intentions. Rare wanted to make a game for the Gamecube and Nintendo wouldn't allow probably they were heavily Family based at that time. So Rare decided to leave Nintendo.

  • pffft. Nintendo owned a majority share of Rare, meaning they controlled the company. They sold it, Rare didn't "decide to leave" because they couldn't since they were owned by Nintendo. I know since I was a huge Nintendo fanboy at the time lol.

  • They sold it since Rare wasn't able to make the game they wanted to and Rare would of just disbanded probably either way Nintendo was foolish but that's how life is. At least Rare isn't throwing out any good games.. that PDZ and Nuts and Bolts just made brought nothing but shame to the company. I'm still a nintendo fanboy :D

  • People are marking your comment as bad for saying the truth? lol

  • ...Hello? The team from Rare made Timesplitters Series, Timesplitters 2 and 3 were on gamecube, but Rare was called Free Radical then.

  • Rare was never disbanded. Free Radical was a team that had former members of Rare in it. They just so happened to have been to the ones that worked on the N64 FPS. Rare never became Free Radical. Some of the former employees did.

  • And Free Radical is SOL :(

  • Rare was never called free radical. free radical is a completely separate company that contains a few people that used to work for rare

  • Uh no. Free Radical and Rare are two different teams. FR was started by the Rare members who left from the start of the development of Perfect Dark to mid-development. Rare itself had nothing to do with the timesplitters series.

  • this is much better than goldeneye, even though it plays the same. it's like goldeneye X 100. you got more blood effects,re-loading animations, more and better guns, more levels, more characters..

i don't get why so many people put goldeneye above this.

  • its cuz golden eye was the first.

thats how it goes for alot of things.

  • i know. and that sucks.

normally the next one along is better, and it is.

  • OMG!! i love this game i finished it!!! its kinda hard killing the alien boss( i forgot what their alien race is called), but i tell you, my favorite gun is the CALISTO NTG

  • MINE TOOOO!!!!!

  • Awesome game! It had so many multiplayer features! I still remember Elvis' funny voice :P

  • Perfect Dark has always been and always will be for me the best shooting game of... And also with perfect soundtrack... I love this game!

  • You know, I could never figure out why the game title had a little " on the end.

  • aw man i forgot about this game 10 stars

  • this game still beats the crap out of the the 360 title that was available at launch. Nintendo needs to buy back Rare. Idiots.

  • They redeemed themselves with PDXBLA, though! PDZ was a launch game that tried to copy halo; of course it sucks.

  • God this game was fun, practically anything that Rareware pulled out their ass was guaranteed to be epic,Donkey Kong Country, Banjo-Kazooie,Killer Instinct,Goldeneye.....

  • where could i download these type of songs? and not asking for illegal downloads.

  • *Epic Facepalm*

  • YOU SHOULDNT HAVE COME HERE GIRL

  • Just try it you Scandinavian freak!

  • Air Base music was my favourite!!!

  • was most Def the Greatest FPS of it's time, and i still wish i had my N64 to play with my buds,

messin around on that game with the bots and weapons was soo damn fun.

:( i wish the new one was as good

  • i know. the new one is a disapointment :( you go pd64 !!

  • metroid prime is better

    trust me

this is second on my list

  • The Pellagic II (Exploration) music was my favorite from PD.

  • i have this game for the n64 its great for its time and still is for today

  • Skedar Ruins should B numBer 1 after 1:58 when the Beat drops

  • wow VERY nice tune :)

  • FARSIGHT.

  • + Laptop gun! >=D

  • lets be honest the nintendo 64 may have been the best console ever made with this game conkers and a shitload of other great games bt anyway thisgame was in fucking sane i remember the 1 gun that etyou see though walls and snipe ppl and the laptop gun ad my favorite the devastator grenade launcher

  • This is really the best game ever, i ha bought an n64 just for this one, i played it like 1000 hours no joke ! all the music of this game are awesome

  • I remember this song!!! I use to go to the options and just listen to this song.

  • Great music!

    (Ótima música!)

  • Perfect Dark has the laptop gun :D

  • Great song. Great choice.

You could have let the whole thing play, though.

  • Its a loop, the song never ends

  • Nah, the 'X' version of the song definitely kicks in before the end of the song on this vid.

This is one of my fave pieces so I know what I'm talking about.

  • Short something being your favorite does not mean you know what your talking about, it just means you like it.

  • Ako, we are not talking about 'something'.. we are talking about the song in this video. It happens to be one I currently own in mp3 form and have used as a ringtone.

    Can you say the same?

    Then STFU.

  • No I can't, but how bout you re-read the fucking comment. I was saying no matter if this "song" is your favorite, no matter if you own it in mp3 form AND have it as a ringtone, that does not mean you know everything about the FUCKING SONG! So maybe you don't know what your talking about you over confident bastard.

  • Yeah.. and maybe you just need to take my initial advice and please... STFU.

You don't have to know 'everything' about a song to know when it ENDS, fucktard.

  • I realize that but you act like your a fucking know-it-all of this song because its your "favorite".

  • my opinion. Goldeneye and perfect are both awesome games. Goldeneye has better single player mission, but perfect darks are still good. Perfect dark has better multiplayer because you can choose any guns and play against sims.

  • I believe this song should be renamed "Overture of Awesome"

I can't wait for this list to be finished, you sir have great taste in music.

  • Can anyone pinpoin a game released earlier than this one where you could actually walk around in hq and do random stuff. I'm pretty sure Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force was released a couple of months after this..

  • This is probably my Third favorite game in the world besides Super Mario RPG and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Airbase X is my Second favorite song in Perfect Dark besides Chicago Stealth. Just wanted ya'll to know that.

  • I LOVE THIS GAME, but when i first got it, i didn't know you needed an expansion pack to play it I was like "aw crap"

  • perfect dark back in the good days

  • this 1 of my favorite games

  • i actually prefer air force one music... specially at the fighting part (air force one x)

  • It may be #77 for you, but I put this song somewhere within my top 10. One of my alltime favorite video game songs.

  • It doesn't matter that Rare was sold, Xbox 360 is obviously the better console for FPS anyway.

  • uh.. no. PC wins in that catagory, guy. :)

  • best multiplayer in a game ever. and i prefer the X of this version.

  • lmao istill play it too. try 1 hit kills with hard sims. Thats insane. ANd i love the muisic too.

  • A perfect game! I love it (I still play it!!!)

  • Gotta love the slow buildup, and then the fast end bit!

  • The last boss theme was my fav theme. I forget the name but it was something skedar X

  • This was the best FPS of its time

  • Goldeneye still takes it down. Perfect Dark is great though, but it didn't really do much new after Goldeneye, which was undeniably revolutionary.

  • people still play multiplayer goldeneye to this day. Goldeneye is on the level of Half-Life and Doom.

  • Didn't do much new? It blew Goldeneye away! It had a much better, more expanded, unbelievably customizable multiplayer mode. It had an original story with voice acting (rare to find on the 64), a huge amount of weapons (that each had secondary modes of fire), many levels of difficulty that each changed how the levels were played, a co-op mode, and a mode that let one character play through the story mode as the main character while the other took control of various enemies. IT was revolutionary.

  • Despite everything you've said, G007 got better reviews and sold 5 times as many copies. Wonder why? I think it had something to do with PD's 'M' rating. You know, being on a family friendly console. Too bad, because I liked PD very much. But, in my opinion, G007 blows PD out of the water. The weird thing is, I don't know why, because PD was superior on a technical level. I prefered G007's music and storyline. It had a certain charm about it too. I also liked the level design more. Oh well.

  • Actually, I think it didn't sell as well because it appeared on the console so late in it's life cycle. Also, the majority of Goldeneye's levels were based off of scenes from the movie.

  • PD is forever...

  • Nah PD is far superior, like the other guy said its because it was releashed so late in its life cycle...people get bored and move on to other consoles its how its always been. To me PD is Goldeney but better...its basically the same game engine but enhanced plus the many facts that the guy above mentioned make this a far better game.

  • My favourite level, it had the best music.
