Two things:

1. By helping people around the world, as opposed to fighting against them, many of the threats O'Reilly talks about would go out the window. Crazy movements like the Taliban would disappear if there were more justice in the world. One way of achieving more justice is by eliminating the tyranny of free trade.

2. I wish Dennis would consider it his role and take on Obama. Obama needs to be reigned in. The U.S. needs leaders that effectively can reign in the president.

I don't always agree with Kucinich, but he's right on this one. In Iraq, we ended up having to negotiate with, and in many instances bribe the people that were fighting us, and that's how pacification came about. The same thing may be necessary in Afghanistan. We're not going to be there forever, and while we're there, we can't see or control everything that happens. Let's be practical about the situation as the previous administration was forced to be, and do what it takes to end this ASAP.

I think the point that Kucinich is making is that because staying in Afghanistan is worse than pulling out in terms of creating people who hate us and thus increasing the potential for violence. The threat to the USA is bigger if we stay, regardless of what the threat is if we stay.

How to limit that threat once we pull out is the topic now: Reconstruction, humanitarian aid, intelligence and special forces, helping the people overthrow the Taliban if they want to.
