The fan response to this match is insane...people just cheer for EVERYTHING. When Hogan's taking it to the Warrior, they cheer. When Warrior turns it around, they cheer. These days they can't even get everyone to cheer Cena!
Im a nigga from the hood and me and my boys wanted to be like these dudes. This is the best match ever not cuz they had no moves. But the crowd was electrifyin and so crunk. the crowd is not like this in sports no more cuz now everybody on their cell phones this is when they had your full attetion. Hogan should have won cuz the UM had like 2 and ahalf moves. But this is classic. Im astreet dude but this shit almost bring me to tears cuz i was 10 when this happen. DAMN I miss the80s and 90s Peace
Only mistake WWF made was at the very end after the match when they made this all about Hogan loosing the belt instead of Warrior winning it. I understand they had to secure HH as babyface but if commentators and camera focused just on warrior and had Earl hand both belts instead of Hogan it would have helped Warrior's victory seem more important.
Easily the best Hulk Hogan match ever in North America, better than The Rock.I don't know who's idea to plan this match out (for some reason it feels like this was as meticulous as a Randy Savage-planned match, but this was the perfect way to have these Titans to go at it. I'm glad we got to see Hogan use a lot more of his wrestling holds.Frankly,he had to in order to make this thing work as he was actually a far superior wrestler to Warrior.
Wish Hogan busted out his great Japanese holds tho
Before this it was Hogan vs Andre after it was Hogan vs Rock. The 3 biggest matches & moments in Mania history were Hogan and.....Hogan haters suck my balls
Gorilla Monsoon was such a great match commentator, one of the best. Michael Cole's egotesticle commentary vs Gorilla's M's eye4detail commentary = it's a no brainer.
@RageOfTheTiger Yeah, wrestling physics are occasionally a bit odd. Like hitting a dropkick and falling on your back doesn't hurt, but missing one does. In this match, I guess it wasn't that Hogan was hurt by missing the leg drop, but he was stunned. Hogan does kick out on 3, just an instant too late.
@youngTaharka He was my favorite wrestler growing up for sure but now he's corny...But when this match took place i was a huge warrior fan..What limited him was lingo the best champions all possesed great lingo.. Hogan talked a goood game macho man, flair, the rock the warrior didnt have much to say
@foolioperez yea your right...thats whats all these kids are gonna be saying when they grow up about Cena"like wow Cena was a fuckin lame" my fav all time is Flair man he did it all
Hulk was my favorite as a kid. He had that "it" factor, which captured the imagination of many kid's. I don't think there will ever be someone again, who captured the imagination of so many, and took the sport so far. He truly made it entertainment. Are there other guys out there who are bigger, badder, stronger, and tougher? Yes, many. But nobody had the entire package the way Hulk did. Can you imagine if Brock Lesner had charisma? He's 1 of the toughest guys on the planet (literally).
@theatlantean3 Sure hulk had charisma, but if you think he was the better overall athlete, then wwf at the time made a good work with you. Hogan can't handle a candle to nowdays wrestler, now actually wrestle instead of fighting. He had lame mat skills, his promos were really bad. Only his charisma saved him and of course, wwf building the company around him at a time. I think any big guy ( with steroids so well, not that deserving) with this mega push could have been a hogan.
@theatlantean3 When he was pumped up on juice, I can't think of too many pros that are/were as built as he was. he was nearly 50 when he faced Brock, HHH, the Rock, etc. Put a 30yo Hogan up to them, and he dwarfs them in size.
Check it out!!! they set it up perfectly good guy vs good guy!! At that time huuuge... After months & months of anticipation the Warrior comes out first then Hogan.. At the end Hogan has his come back power up moment, then the punches dont hurt me pause. Your thinking ahhhhh shit... then comes the big boot. You think its over but not so fast the Warrior flips it. Great script in fact perfect script.
I wonder if the refs union ever pitched the idea to mcmahon to be allowed to wear helmets.....or a suit of armor... or bubble wrap. How do u get knocked out once per main event? That's just not a safe work environment. classic match tho lolololol
haha back when wwe was wwf 60,000 fans lost there voice for 3 days after major events Oh well, all great shows come to an end. Too bad today's generation are not able to enjoy what we did back when WWF was actually good. WWE=drama
@DeadFrontierZN2012 The only thing that made this a must-see event was the explosive popularity of these guys and their star power. If today's stars (guys like Cena and Orton) wrestled a match like this, they'd be criticized to no end. And you know why that is? BECAUSE THIS WAS A TERRIBLE MATCH. Seriously, there were a lot of classic matches in the '80s (such as this one), but a majority of them (once again such as this one) were utter crap. Old is not always gold. The crowd made this match.
you have some very valid points. Crowd did make it & the match maybe could have been better, but the war the wwe used to be, was still fun to watch, but you must admit, if cena or orton was in said bear hug here, head butts would have broken that up 5 minutes ago lolol
This was another classic match. Warrior knew how to keep a match exciting. This match was also a first. Two "Good Guy" champs exchanging titles. And Hulk showing REAL class at the end when he hands warrior the belt. PRICELESS. I wonder if they would do that in wrestling today.
Changing of the guard. I was a huge fan of Hulk's, so that was a tough one for me. However, I loved watching the Ultimate Warrior, too. But I knew it would be IMPOSSIBLE to fill Hulk Hogan's shoes, as far as carrying the torch. There NEVER was a wrestler before Hogan, or after, who captured the public's imagination the way he did. Hulk was a true one of a kind. Others have tried, but have failed. The Rock, Goldberg, Michaels, Warrior, Undertaker, you name it......Nobody was as good as Hulk.
@jason60152 did he? cool. But that wasn't my point. My point was that nobody has ever (before or since) taken the sport so far. Hulk made professional wrestling due to his "it" factor. He brought in the crowds, making pro wrestling a billion dollar business. No wrestler before him ever did that. No wrestler after him has been around long enough to do it. If we're talking about who's the greatest wrestler of them all, it would be Brock Lesner. When he was champ, he was the baddest man on earth
@theatlantean3 Hulk Hogan paved the way for other wrestlers but money wise Stone Cold made the business the most money.Sting was a better champ then Brock Lesner.C'mon man!!
@jason60152 what i was saying about Lesner, is that he was the most legite of all the champions, regarding true toughness....Lesner was the MMA / UFC Champion, which I consider to be the end all / be all as to who the toughest man on the planet is. Sting wouldn't have wanted anything to do with Lesner in a real life fight, nor would ANYONE else in pro wrestling..I bet the other wrestlers hated getting in the ring with Lesner, because they knew he could do whatever he wanted at any given time.
@theatlantean3 Lesner is sloppy in pro wrestling and he hurts people because he ain't a great pro wrestler.I never said anything about a real fight with Lesner because Lesner is the only former wrestler to accomplish what he did.But i'm saying Sting and Goldberg are better wrestlers then Lesner.
Wrestling changed about this time...... A wrestler no longer needed moves or knowledge of how to work a match or how to wrestle even....just a look and a gimmack .... Which is how it is to this day
This would've been one really bad match if it wasn't so hyped back then. Half of the time they were just standing in the center of ring. Timing was off sometimes, a couple of sequences were almost botched. Just my opinion though.
@angelofanguish. Your kidding, right? The warrior sucked balls at promos. Everyone in the wrestling business and a true wrestling fan will tell you that.
This is when I was so into WRESTLING, the good O days man. Now this, this is Legendary. I was a kid watching this stuff. As of now, I just don't watch it any more. It's not the same. This will never be for gotten. I think I stopped watching this right around the time Papa Shinego (I hecka spelled his name wrong lol) Made Ultimate Worrior. Do anybody remember that?!
@RILLAMAN84 when you say wrestling isnt the same anymore, you're probly talking about WWE.have you even taken the time to see other promotions like TNA,ROH?
@kidz919 :I know right, people assume the WWE has the best wrestlers going. When only Morrison,ORton,Tyson kidd and daniel bryan can wrestle.Aj Styles is the best wrestler in the states.Samoa joe,Angle,Roode,Kazarian,RVD,& the X division & knockouts would wrestle circles around The IC,divas,& US champs.People are blinded by the smoke screen that is the WWE.The same way they didnt wanna give WCW a chance in the early 90's.Sure the Robocop spot & coal miners glove match wasnt a good idea but still
@Omagic29 Yeah exactly.I happen to be a big WWE fan and I still watch it but when ppl go out and say tht all wrestling sucks now or say they dont watch it anymore, its a ridiculous statement to make because obviously all those ppl who say tht shit, they probably didnt even watch other wrestling companies besides WWE and WCW from back then.I'm sorry but I just cant call tht a real wrestling fan at all
@kidz919 :I was a WCW fanattic even when the Attitude Era was kicking there asses,i still watched. Its annoying reading fakers saying wrestling is finally family friendly.Thats enough to keep me from watching RAW all together.I dont remember people saying wrestling isnt family friendly when it seemed every wrestler in the 80's and 90's were bladding. Now they stop the matches because of blood.
1 million hits and back in the day i was a hulkamaniac,,but respect the warrior character and dont think anyone will touch these 2 unless they come from the ufc,,,,,,they lost the brains,,,and no i dont only mean heenan
and just look at that, hulk gave him the title, raised his hand and they still hugged each other, Hogan lost but he truly has the heart of a winner and so does the Warrior true fucking wrestlers, true fucking legends, ... nowadays titles are meaningless and they all slap each other when they loose one... i guess these videos will be the only good memories of wrestling we will have...
this is probably my favorite match of all time, and the rock is my favorite wrestler. top 10 is: bret hart vs shawn michaels iron man match, ric flair vs shawn michaels for flairs career, bret hart and stone cold in i quit, undertaker vs mankind in hell in a cell, rey mysterio winning the royal rumble, rock vs stone cold in austins last match, rock vs hogan, michaels vs undertaker and this match...needless to say, shawn michaels puts on the best show
No one ever gives Warrior credit for having a gorilla press slam for his finisher. Seriously, that is damn impressive and very hard to do. Hogan had a legdrop, Flair had a figure four, DiBiase had a sleeper, Jake Roberts had a DDT, Bret Hart had the sharpshooter. Those are all MUCH easier than pressing another human being over your head with your arms fully extended! Say what you will about Warrior's wrestling ability, but the guy was incredible.
@7000ironman Uh, WRONG. Benoit, Steamboat, HBK were among the most exciting wrestlers in history. Warrior just screamed and ranted, had 2 wrestling moves and FAILED to get over w/the crowd as champion after beating Hogan. The WWF gave him everything to succeed and he failed. Therefore, he's NOT the most exciting wrestler in history. If he'd generated that, he wouldve lasted a decade. he didn't. Fail
@7000ironman I agree! In my opinion, Warrior had the make-up and the hair of a rocker and the physique of someone in Muscle and Fitness and/or Iron Man magazines! Oh, who could forget his "ring-entrance" music! Believe me, I prefer the Warrior over Tatanka, Bob Backlund, Rick(y) Steamboat, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Golddust, Triple "H", and, YES, even the Rock, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, AND the Undertaker!
I just ruined the awesome childhood memory I had of this match. Seriously this has to be one of the worst, if not the worst, main event in WM history. These guys couldn't wrestle for shit. Or maybe it was just Warrior since Hogan had a great match with the Rock at WM 18.
@NyRSoxFan84 Although Hogan wasn't a good wrestler, he could have great matches against almost anybody. Warrior however was a terrible wrestler. I too grew up as a kid idolizing these two and having checked quite a few warrior matches on youtube, I can tell you that he was a terrible wrestler and he had no clue how to put on a show. His entrance was and energy was fantastic, but that was about the only thing he had going for him. That's my opinion at least.
@tendresseak27 Coz there's a difference between being average and terrible. Hogan was so-so as a wrestler but Ultimate Warrior was just brutal and to call him limited would be an understatement.
My favorite match of all time. i was 9 then and this was a couple months BEFORE i learned wrestling was scripted - thank god for that! (that i learned after that is).
@jarcar101 Cena's been botching alot lately don't no why. But they should be able to, Hogan botched damn near the whole match, it was kinda dark in the arena these loud fans must couldn't see.
I can remember being a little kid watching this with the upmost enjoyment........but even now that I'm grown up, the intensity, suspense, and excitement hasnt changed one bit. It is still awesome.
this match today would be like John Cena vs. Batista, since WWE guys say Cena is the new Hogan and Batista was as bad backstage as warrior. Though, this match a way more entertaining than cena vs. Batista.
The fan response to this match is insane...people just cheer for EVERYTHING. When Hogan's taking it to the Warrior, they cheer. When Warrior turns it around, they cheer. These days they can't even get everyone to cheer Cena!

RILLAMAN84 4 months ago 10
@RILLAMAN84 when you say wrestling isnt the same anymore, you're probly talking about WWE.have you even taken the time to see other promotions like TNA,ROH?
kidz919 2 months ago
@kidz919 :I know right, people assume the WWE has the best wrestlers going. When only Morrison,ORton,Tyson kidd and daniel bryan can wrestle.Aj Styles is the best wrestler in the states.Samoa joe,Angle,Roode,Kazarian,RVD,& the X division & knockouts would wrestle circles around The IC,divas,& US champs.People are blinded by the smoke screen that is the WWE.The same way they didnt wanna give WCW a chance in the early 90's.Sure the Robocop spot & coal miners glove match wasnt a good idea but still
Omagic29 2 months ago
@Omagic29 Yeah exactly.I happen to be a big WWE fan and I still watch it but when ppl go out and say tht all wrestling sucks now or say they dont watch it anymore, its a ridiculous statement to make because obviously all those ppl who say tht shit, they probably didnt even watch other wrestling companies besides WWE and WCW from back then.I'm sorry but I just cant call tht a real wrestling fan at all
kidz919 2 months ago
@kidz919 :I was a WCW fanattic even when the Attitude Era was kicking there asses,i still watched. Its annoying reading fakers saying wrestling is finally family friendly.Thats enough to keep me from watching RAW all together.I dont remember people saying wrestling isnt family friendly when it seemed every wrestler in the 80's and 90's were bladding. Now they stop the matches because of blood.
Omagic29 2 months ago
1 million hits and back in the day i was a hulkamaniac,,but respect the warrior character and dont think anyone will touch these 2 unless they come from the ufc,,,,,,they lost the brains,,,and no i dont only mean heenan
nick0mac 4 months ago
and just look at that, hulk gave him the title, raised his hand and they still hugged each other, Hogan lost but he truly has the heart of a winner and so does the Warrior true fucking wrestlers, true fucking legends, ... nowadays titles are meaningless and they all slap each other when they loose one... i guess these videos will be the only good memories of wrestling we will have...

this is probably my favorite match of all time, and the rock is my favorite wrestler. top 10 is: bret hart vs shawn michaels iron man match, ric flair vs shawn michaels for flairs career, bret hart and stone cold in i quit, undertaker vs mankind in hell in a cell, rey mysterio winning the royal rumble, rock vs stone cold in austins last match, rock vs hogan, michaels vs undertaker and this match...needless to say, shawn michaels puts on the best show

XxACEBadAssXx 5 months ago
No one ever gives Warrior credit for having a gorilla press slam for his finisher. Seriously, that is damn impressive and very hard to do. Hogan had a legdrop, Flair had a figure four, DiBiase had a sleeper, Jake Roberts had a DDT, Bret Hart had the sharpshooter. Those are all MUCH easier than pressing another human being over your head with your arms fully extended! Say what you will about Warrior's wrestling ability, but the guy was incredible.

warrior wasn't about wrestling....he was about unbridled power and strength...and he was the best and MOST exciting wrestler in history!!!
7000ironman 5 months ago

NyRSoxFan84 5 months ago
@NyRSoxFan84
This was a well-worked match, especially since Warrior wanted to get out five minutes into it...
SeanOMatic 5 months ago
@NyRSoxFan84 Although Hogan wasn't a good wrestler, he could have great matches against almost anybody. Warrior however was a terrible wrestler. I too grew up as a kid idolizing these two and having checked quite a few warrior matches on youtube, I can tell you that he was a terrible wrestler and he had no clue how to put on a show. His entrance was and energy was fantastic, but that was about the only thing he had going for him. That's my opinion at least.
This had an awesome ending however.
tendresseak27 5 months ago
@tendresseak27 Coz there's a difference between being average and terrible. Hogan was so-so as a wrestler but Ultimate Warrior was just brutal and to call him limited would be an understatement.

this match today would be like John Cena vs. Batista, since WWE guys say Cena is the new Hogan and Batista was as bad backstage as warrior. Though, this match a way more entertaining than cena vs. Batista.
