I hope no one is stupid enough to go for this idea. No matter how much money or support you give to an artist, it doesn't get that band any closer to being published. I could go over the fine points of copyrights, publishing, performing rights organizations, attorneys, recording contract advances, re-coupment, 360 deals, etc. Just because you give an artist (scam artist) 10 bucks of your hard earned cash to record a demo in someones bedroom, does not make you a believer, just ignorant.

I took screens of Kat, Chris' employee, phishing for ad clicks on his blog, in the chat room one day. Ever since then, I've watched for that kind of thing and sure enough I have seen it happen several times since.

They will come in saying something like "ohh man, have you seen that 'insert product' yet? No? check out the ad on Chris' blog, there is a link..., you need to see this or that, its so awesome, bla bla bla", among other shady techniques that are used to make money off of us.

Sellaband is a fantastic concept, we are over 30.000$ now and have more than 440 so called believers.

Just check out the site and maybe there is a artist you want to be in business with. Or you think that deserves to make that 50K album.or just to find some undiscovered cool music ;-)

It sounds to me like the business running this website is just going to grab a portion of the donations, not to mention all future sales of the artist, under the guise of supporting these artists.

The only difference between this business and what currently exists is this business also makes money on all the artists who never make it far enough to release an album.

All future sales of the artist????? Sellaband only gets a portion of sales for the 1st 24 months unless the artist says otherwise. The masters are given to the artist thus the artist has complete control at the end of 12 months.
