Yet another example of legislative backwardness. North America really needs to get with it and support its home-grown farming industry better: by facilitating the sale of food and wine that's locally grown, whatever that takes. Pity to see perfectly good fruit, and the work of honest people, going to waste because of bureaucracy.
The best and most successful farm crop in NY is now Grapes. So now we need NY support to be able to sell wine in food stores as 35 other state now allow. This will support family wineries & grape growers, and increase wine sales in NY as wine becomes more accessible; thus I will then go into liquor stores to see what other wines are available. Our closest store only carries 10 NY wineries wines. I want better choices. If they sell more wine, then more sales tax monies are collected. No brainier
For all the eye-rolling us New Yorkers do about the Midwest at least most of those states allow wine to be sold in food stores. The grapes in New York are fantastic for making wine, there is no reason for them to be hanging and rotting away when we could be buying the wines made from them!
