I like the Boondock saints too - especially like Billy Connelly.. If you have a heavy light on your table, try a Light - medium Grey Background, it can give a similar appearance to natural lighting from an un-natural light source without to much glare, ensure its a matt finish!. It doesnt always work as it realy depends on what kind of light you are using. No slacking off now though, I NEED to see another video uploaded for the weekend or I will be forced to watch exceptionally boring TV.
@ThaiBoxerBen: Apparently I have spoilt ye! You'll have ta' watch bad tv me heartie 'cuz there be no more Dreadfleet videos till next week says I. Go swab the deck or paint yer models and before ya knows it, the next episode will be here!
To cut down on the glare, you could lay down a piece of cardboard or brown paper, it is a neutral(ish) color so it shouldn't absorb or reflect much light
You're a machine! Awesome vids (^_^)v Too many other painters just do the fast forward thing, which is fine and all to grasp the idea, but it's really nice to see how a piece develops from stroke-to-stroke too! Really like that you've taken the time to stagger your painting so we can see differences between steps too. Finally, a question: Are you going to try to color match the playing mat? Some of the fleets don't and I think they look kind of funky.
@awakeneddragon: Thank you! That's part of why the videos run a bit long...because I don't speed up the vid of the painting process. I think it's crucial for beginning painters to see what I'm doing while doing it in real-time, and not just the finished product after each layer. I also plan to try to match the sea mat...we'll see how that goes! Still debating on adding gloss to the water. Normally that would be a given but the mat is very "matte" and that might look too stand-outish.
I think the problem isn't the green, but the glare from hard light hitting the models. Try diffusing it some (put baking paper between them and the table).

@JChalant: Yep, supplemental...a semi-long one. The time really adds up when I film actual painting. Just wait until I do the ships, lol!
