I really like the Street Dogs. I saw DKM live in Pittsburgh in 1997 or 98 with Mike singing and it was awesome but I have to say that Al Barr is no freakin slouch and should be given props for singing many of DKM's best songs.
@paperlanterns98 to me street punk is more so the sound of The Casualties. I'd categorize it more so as Street Rock/Oi! such as Shock Nagasaki, Marching Orders, Bulldog Spirit, Perkele, Frei.Wild, etc...
its like when people pronounce c sounds as a pure s where it could be more of a sh. for example.. when people say apresiate rather than apreSHeate (apreciate being the word) it gives me the shits. it sounds so gay.. another example would be Negotiate, theres no way you can get an S from that, at best an SH with the tia combo, yet some pricks still worked it into something like "negosiate".. ofcourse its way different in this case being the word it is, letters involved etc... but same idea
Brother Walfrid is the man who formed Glasgow Celtic football club (in Scotland in 1888) most Brits didn't want to pronounce it in the Irish way (Keltic) they adopted the 'S' sound to it. Which is probarbly why Boston Celtics are named after. The football team was set up for Irish immigrants in Scotland, so maybe Boston was paying some tribute to that idea.
Its pronounced Seltic ONLY when refering to these sports teams. EVERYTHING else regarding the people, language, culture is pronounced Keltic
i had the honor and privilege of talking to Mike 3 times before, and man what a hell of a nice guy to talk to, even shared a few stories with me about the past, dropkick murphys were so much better with him as their lead, hell they wouldnt even exist had he not been with the band in the past.
To me, he's sound isn't better than the Dropkick Murphys... IT IS the Dropkick Murphy sound. DKM was SO much better with Mike. They did descent with Al for a few albums.. but now it feels like frat boy pop crap. The Street Dogs are way better than DKM (now-a-days), they actually sing about real issues and problems. This, my friends, is the true meaning of street punk.
No, as much as i like Mike as a singer.... he is from Bosten( yes BosTEN)... So he likes the sell tics... it is actually Kel-tic..... Celtic. It irks the shit out of me too. But an accent is an accent. Live and let live on this one..... Though it is "Keltic"
@denosi The correct pronounciation is keltic, but it is also true that nobody calls them the boston keltics, just a straight mispronouciation that has become the norm
ive seen the amazing street dogs 3 times, and i got to talk with mike mccolgan 3 times as well and man is he a hell of a nice guy to talk to, watching their performances are so ispirational and epic.
Just leave it at "Street Dogs rule". Leave the sports rivalry comments out of it. No need to start a comment war here. Can't wait to see the B's and Habs square off again this fall though! Respect.
Oh hush now about Tim and Lars. Pointless, I tell ya! Rabble, rabble, rabble! Mike, now there's a nice lad. DKM and Street Dogs, classic acts, both. Rancid? Maybe not so much, but give them some credit for Rancid Radio. I miss my XM Fungus 53...
Mike is a class act 110%, down to earth stand up guy!
I introduced him to my GF and he was a total gentleman, she apologized for being late to get up to Providence for the show! I consider him a Brother from the Gulf I experience, and a brother for his Union committment! Viva Le Streetdogs!
i like his humility and seriousness. contrast that with tim and lars of rancid - fucking arrogant rock stars. it would be great to drink a beer with this guy. rancid drinks beers with kelly osbourne and skye sweetnam.
fuck you two then. Lars and Tim are opposite of arrogant rockstars.... watch some interviews and youll see that. rancid's a sickband.... this guys hella friends with lars and tim too, so they probably have beers together all the time. so shut up and dont say shit before you know it
so fucking what I dont like em go suck tims cock lick lars (brough up eating from a trash can boo fucking hoo) ass in the words of animal of anti nowhere leauge wimp!
