Gonna miss Yao on the court. When a big man like him starts having foot problems late in his career, it's time to hang it up. Glad he came to his senses and retired. Still doesn't take away the fact that he was one of the better centers in recent memory.
Look at the difference in the smoothness and technique of their shots. Yao clearly knows what he's doing while Thabeet doesn't look very comfortable. Yao was probably even more raw than Thabeet was when he first came into the league, but a tremendous work ethic and self-belief made him one of the best centers in the game when he played. If Thabeet works as hard as Yao did, I think he can be a pretty solid center.
the thing i like about hasheem is that he is kind of durible, he has a solid 7'3 frame and he's built to work. he'll never be a star, but he will be a good center. like when he does the layups, he actually brings up his knee, he's flexible and he can run
k u guys have to chill out on hasheem. this was either during or before he was put into d league and now im pretty sure hes learned to use his right much better, it may have though been a mistake drafting him first round but hes still a good man to have down low grabbing rebounds and blocking shots
I think if he could learn to body and defend an NBA center he could actually get some PT. You don't really have to be a great scorer to be an effective center, just play your man, rebound, and help. He is definitely a great shot blocker, just has to learn to put it all together all the time. His skilled game may always be sloppy.
Wow, Thabeet's form on that jump hook is terrible. He played college in the US, how can not be the first, and I literally mean, FIRST move he was taught to master?
If he absorbed all of Yao's skill he could probably have a stat line like 18pt 14rb and 3bs, but yea, it is surprising that he can be a 1st round pick when he doesn't have fundamental skills like doing a hook shot.
Thabeet is the biggest bust since Kwame Brown...

Now that Yao helped him with his hook shots now all he has to do Is go to Hakeem Olajuwon to learn some post moves
