The first time that she refers to in "The Voyager Conspiracy" I don't believe was actually shown. But the first episode they did show her telling the Captain thank you was (I think) at the end of "Raven," in the holodeck. I could be wrong though, it's been a while since I watched it.

Whether it was the "first" time, I can't say, but there is a scene in "Dark Frontier" where Seven says "thankyou" to Janeway.  "DF" is the "time period" that both Janeway and Seven are referring to in the ep called "Voyager Conspiracy" but the scene is quite different. Here Seven and Janeway are referring to something that occurred in the mess hall, but the scene we actually saw was in Janeway's ready room when she gave Seven permission to join the away team.

The Voyager Conspiracy did have a very touching ending, which is saying a lot coming from me. The only other time I felt that emotional over Star Trek was when Data found his cat at the end of Generations.

yeah, it's weird how thousands or millions of ppl are completely unable to read faces. common take a good look at those faces cos thei're really good actresses: janeway always looks kind, loving, patient, understanding... 7 looks very sharp and expecting judgement, and reacts with pride or anger depending on janeway's opinion of her deeds. now where on earth ain't that mom/daughter???

That's kind of a difficult question. Seven was technically always human but she was separated from the collective in 'The Gift' (against her will) so she reclaimed a lot of her humanity. In the same episode, Kes started exhibiting mental powers and left the ship as an engergy being(ascended, really) so as not to put any of her friends in danger. So Kes didn't die...she just changed and left the show.
