@spiffman387 Because the ECU pulls fuel until it goes into open loop mode at higher rpm's this causes a possibly dangerous lean condition. When the tps is disconnected it remains in open loop mode all the time causing the engine to run slightly rich thus eliminating the possibly dangerous lean condition. It gives the car a little more pep in the lower rpms also.

@mazdaspeedmx512lbs The miata goes into open loop mode once you hit 4,5k rpm. Is it higher for your mazdaspeed?

@0VeilSide0 Im pretty sure Mazdaspeed mx5 go into open loop around 5,500 rpms.
