The original ending was only as far as the rest of us could see. We can't clearly see and recall other people's dreams which is where we all float into in the end much as our earliest memories of being alive are indistinguishable from the stuff of dreams from which we all came. We're all part of each others dreams.
Even though it was a sad ending, in a way it's kind of a happy ending, for the man and the woman cause, they don't have to suffer anymore. It hurt Noah everytime Ally said she never remembered him.
This is like the G version... But them dying together and the whole, "Do you think our love can take us away together?" is much more touching... Good job though.

I actually prefered the movie over the book, call me crazy, I just loved all the heart wrenching scenes, the book was sad yes, but the ending of the movie just makes you want to grab everyone you know and tell them. It makes every single women in a theater ball their eyes out. Its magical.
This is a really great but sad movie...noah and allies story of love is great and Im in the same boat as noah was in, me and a girl I used to date are truly in love with each other but she now lives in a different state and is in love with this other guy and here I am just wishing me and her could be together again

I love the Notebook and I hate romance movies. I will agree that this ending was a bit happier, but I lost my head when she forgot Noah in the regular version. I must have watched the Notebook 10 times and normally I don't watch a movie unless 20 people get shot in the first 30 minutes!

And after that she is in the hospital and noah visited her and she remembers again,and he sleeps next to her bed and in the morning the doctor came to see her and the doctor sees noah and her dead together in the bed.

As much as we all wanted to be spared from the sadness of her dementia, part of what makes this movie so iconic was the screen writer and director's unwavering choice of the not-so-fairytale ending. The love story is so intense and great, yet it's tied together by the heartbreaking tragedy of Allie's memory loss. A brilliant story and gut-wrenching ending to be sure that made it all that more magical.
i thought the original was better cos its more of a "awww i love them, i want her to remember again!" ending which stays in your head, if its happy like that then your more likely to forget about it not that you will cos its a great movie :)

It's not bad, it's just it leaves the end open, whereas in the film, even though it's really sad, it brings everything to a close, and they die together, with Allie remembering Noah. One of the best films ever!
I like the original ending better, it is real, it's not a romanticized ending, it reflects the reality for some elderly couples out there, this is what they face every single day. The ending makes me think about my relationship with my boyfriend, if we are able to face such a challenging situation. There are enough Sleepless in Seattle endings out there, I'm glad this movie tells it like it is. We all want an ideal ending, but sometimes we don't get it.

wen they both die on the bed at the end its to emotional to be able to change. it is a good ending that u have done but they have led the story up for a emotional ending and thats what they gave us in the original

i loved the movie, but i really didn't like the ending, i know a lot of ppl think it's cute but seriously... the movie was so real and all.. and then the ending was just so stupid and fake. both of them dying at the same time. i didn't like it.

@SaaarLucy its called "The Wedding" and its about noah and allie's daughter, Jane, and son-in-law, Wilson. It's mostely just about their marrige, but noah and some other characters are also in it

Nice scene, but not a good ending because there is no resolution. They had to die together rather than live apart. However, I do not think her relapse was necessary during the dance. THis was a nice cut thought. I liked it a lot.

It was sad at the ending where she started remembering Noah but then she slipped but then wright when he got in the bed there she remembered him!

It's not bad, it's just it leaves the end open, whereas in the film, even though it's really sad, it brings everything to a close, and they die together, with Allie remembering Noah. One of the best films ever!

I like the original ending better, it is real, it's not a romanticized ending, it reflects the reality for some elderly couples out there, this is what they face every single day. The ending makes me think about my relationship with my boyfriend, if we are able to face such a challenging situation. There are enough Sleepless in Seattle endings out there, I'm glad this movie tells it like it is. We all want an ideal ending, but sometimes we don't get it.
