The point of this piece was not to go into an in depth discussion of Scientology's obvious flaws - that's your mandate - but is rather, as ThisIsTruDealWithIt says, "an editorial about general censorship and media legal policies". Saying "names" in plural sense was sufficient for this.

Please stop saying "enhance" you're not CSI. I seriously doubt that their neglecting to mention Lisa MacPhearson was due to time constraints and because the story is not as well known as the Tom Cruise one. It would have taken a good deal more explanation which Media Watch really does not have time for. I think if you view the recent Foru Corners documentary on Scientology ou will agree that the ABC is not afraid to take on this malicious cult.

I'm in the States and perhaps that's why I haven't seen Media Watch before. They seem to have done a partially good job, but it's hard to tell if the story is about Anon/Co$, or if it's an editorial about general censorship and media legal policies: using Anonymous' protests as an example. Any news showing Anonymous doing good work is good news though - so WIN!

You should send a letter and a link to this video to Media Watch. They are usually pretty transparent and make addendums about stuff they've missed/ got wrong.

IMO 'The Advertiser' erasing Lisa McPherson's name from the sign is a more significant example of soft journalism than removing Tom Cruise's name. It is bad enough that the CoS goes to great lengths to suppress and whitewash this particularly nasty part of their history, it's worse when mainstream media is complicit in this.

I agree, The complicity is appalling with Newscorp, but not surprising unfortunately, but Media Watch obviously knew about it by their use of the word "names".

It's interesting. The Scientology crime syndicate is well known for its racketeering, blackmail, extortion, homicides, "suicides," money laundering, domestic espionage, and rooking, swindleing the rubes, marks, and suckers who still fall for their frauds.

But the days of the crime syndicate racketeering people in to silence is over. The mainstream media shouldn't be shitting themselves in fear any longer.
