I actually just got another FC Twin after royally screwing up my first one I got in 2007, and while a lot has improved since then, the NES side was downgraded due to the sound being distorted, but nowhere near as bad as the absolutely murdered audio of the RetroDuo. My first FC Twin had perfectly clean NES audio, so why the NES audio quality degraded like this is beyond me. Still, I'd take a stock Yobo-branded FC Twin over a stock RetroDuo due to the horrendous NES audio of the RetroDuo.
But if someone is handy with a soldering iron, the RetroDuo is the better system as it plays Castlevania III and plays both Rad Racer II and After Burner without graphical errors.
Another thing: I don't know if my FC Twin is defective or if all FC Twins do this, but it has problems with the Konami Justifier. It goes completely insane when you're far from the TV, but if you press the gun against the screen, it works fine. I don't get it.
@99mrhappy - Try playing Jackal on the RetroDuo. It's an absolute mess on the RetroDuo. You could even take a look at my RetroDuo vs. Original Hardware clips to get an idea of just how bad a RetroDuo can sound. And this is how the system puts out sound from NES games when it's 100% stock. Has your RetroDuo been modified, by any chance?

@sayastra - Not so fast, Sayastra! There are quite a few misconceptions out there about games with the Nintendo SA-1 co-processor. If an SA-1 game doesn't work, it's because the game itself was specifically programmed to detect the presence of a lockout chip inside the console. Clones don't have one, and as such, SA-1 games with this check don't work. Have a look on YouTube for videos of the POKEFami DX portable Super NES clone; you'll see some SA-1 games work and others don't.

Please don't address me as trying to pull a fast one, I'm speaking from experience here- and I wasn't being disrespectful about it! SMRPG (runs 1.2 &1.3), Kirby'sdreamland 3 and Kirby Superstar are listed on the FC twin incompatible list... the commonality is they ALL have SA1 chips
oth consoles are worth about 60 bucks a peice. A super Nintendo is worth 60 bucks for a good one. and a NES is about the same. So wouldn't it be better to buy an Origina NES and Super Nintendo? I have both a NES and SNES and I am looking for one of thses to put in a different room
@21stgear will is up to you to a clone or the nes and snes i think its a good move to buy a clone its new the pins do not need cleaning and clones are about 38 to 40 dollars but its up to you not me i love my nes and snes but the clones are nice to have and fun to play on
oth consoles are worth about 60 bucks a peice. A super Nintendo is worth 60 bucks for a good one. and a NES is about the same. So wouldn't it be better to buy an Origina NES and Super Nintendo?

That's awesome. I bought an fc twin and Im waiting for it to ship so I watched some videos and they all made the retro duo seem much much better. But now I see what you said.

This is probably the best comparison of the two I've found on YT. It's actually the one that finally sold me on picking up a famiclone. Probably the Duo as space is an issue.

I owned a Retro Duo two years ago.
It worked great and I had no problems with it. It played all my reproduction games too (I didn't test Starfox 2).
