@ the cut ears: you should know most of the dogs in the video that have clipped ears had it made, when it was allowed ;) some of them even do not live anymore,...
Beaucheron's are older the german shepherd breed, & this breed was one of the building blocks for the doberman, BUT the rottweiler is much older, going back to the time of the Roman Empire and may have been one of the breeds used to make the beaucheron. Either way all these dogs are smart, beautiful & PROTECTIVE. Great breeds all.
Also, alot of the dogs on this video show their ears clipped. In France where I live, the beauceron breed is not allowed to have their ears clipped...another popular feature of this breed is that they have two dew-claws on their back legs, which gives them a total of six toes on their back legs. If the dew claws are removed at birth as well, then they aren't allowed to be shown at shows or reproduce, due to its inauthenticity.
We have 5 beaucerons, 4 which are blue and black and one that's black and brown. They're incredibly huge, beautiful, playful and just want love. Beautiful house guarding dogs as well, if they see a stranger they alert you, but if they've seen you more than once they remember who you are and don't bark anymore. Seriously the most beautiful dogs. The 2 month old puppy we just got is double the size of the japanese chins we already have! So playful, so gorgeous, couldnt be more happy!!!!
We were lucky enough to find our guy "Dude" at the Edmonton SPCA. They had him listed as a Shepherd/Rottie cross, but, partly due to your vid, we think he may well be a Beauceron (or at least part). He is an absolute sweetie. Very gentle, utterly submissive and a complete gentleman. We are very lucky to have such a great member of our family. If he is typical of his breed, they are simply the best friend a family can have!
Awesome video, Beaucerons are really great great dogs, Helped a friend this weekend at the Dixon show here in Cali. this last weekend with her beauceron.... Or should I say my Niece.. haaaaa Her beauceron & my Canaan dogs are best buds... Thanks so much for sharing, The U2 tribute is good too :)
How cool. After 3 years, we also realized our Beauc was not a Dobbie, Rotti, or Shep mix. We were trying to figure something out to tell landlords that had a list of breeds they would not accept(Dob, Rot, G.Shep all included on the list) and we finally got the correct breed confirmed. Thanks for the video.
Brook du Perouet is my fourth Beauceron, so as years have gone by, I can say I gained some knowledge about this Breed. Your "Vid" says it all, simply, eloquently. To me, the Beauceron is the "ultimate" dog: "Sage et Hardi" said the renowned writer George Sand about this breed and her comment sticks to the Beauceron to this day. You can't get a better dog!
As an old owner, I can say my dog could react lately (young up to 3 years old as a Beauceron is not used to being earlier like a German shepherd) whatever I was asking. Nevertheless, all the inflammatory remarks I made in its youth took me at least 2 or 3 min each. What a dream then to ride on my mtb while it was walking on the sidewalk in middle of the city...
BUT take care of its ligaments, in case of many exercices and sports, they are very very thin and weak. So a check up each half year PLS
What an interesting breed of dog. I don't think I've ever seen one in real life before until I met a lady who bred them at Pet Expo. My goodness they're gorgeous and they remind me of my friend's Doberman and they look a like yet very distinctive in coat and the second dew claws they have. Such a passionate breed hailing from France.
@Jasminaman, Where can I find a breeder?? I absolutely fell in love with these dogs over the past few months. I want one of my own so bad now! Beautiful Dogs!!
@Jasminaman i spent my childhood in the country in the north of france , my grand father had 3 to 4 beaucerons , they also are called " bas rouges" because of the tip of their legs. He had them because every once in a while he would take his flock of sheep to some greener pasture. These dogs are impressive, but they are as warm hearted as proud. My grand dad had complete trust in them, and they sometimes came around for a hug though they were pro dogs and not family ones.
I think the Beauceron must have been the building block for most working dogs. You can see the Rott , Dobermans and Shepherds in this dog. For whatever reason it isnt well known outside of its home region. Which may be a good thing as overbreeding can occur. Very intresting breed.
Nice presentation. After having owned a few German Shepherds a bouviers des flandres and a border collie, I fell in love with the Beauceron, and it didn't stay by one.
If you have a little experience training dogs, they are the ideal canine partner, though, loyal, strong, multi functional, playfull and full of friendship.
I've had my Beauceron for five years and just recently realized she wasn't a Rott, Dober, or G. Shep mix. She had the vet and the rest of the family fooled, but this breed isn't well-known outside of France. Still on of my favorite breeds.
How could you honestly mistaken a Beau for a Rottie? Seems odd. Rotts have a much shorter muzzle and are much stockier than a Beau. Also Rotts have a unique walk, because of their hips. Beau's have cropped ears, Rotts do not.....Rotts have their tails clipped, Beau's do not......two very different dogs.
It is really no report(relationship) with these two race if c " is the same dress and the same colors Rott and a big dog whereas the beauceron and a shepherd looking like more has a lupoid
I knew she wasn't a a full bred; which is why we assumed she was a mix of one of the three breeds. And at 70 lbs, my Beau is a bit stocky to be polite. Anyway, most Americans have never heard of this breed so it's not unreasonable to mistake her for something else. If you don't spend a lot of time around various breeds, like me, then you might not see how different Beaus are in comparison.
on n'a la même mais petite je suis entrain d'alusinée je vois quelle sera super grande lol elle et trop belle on dirait no photo tellement il se ressemble
Just as an FYI the Beauceron is in no way a cross between an Doberman and a Rottweiler. They are an extremely intense breed that requires good handling and a LOT of intense exercise. Walks are NOT enough for this breed, they need a job. Agility, obedience, flyball, Schutzhund, carting, anything. They're capable and loyal when in the right hands, but are NOT for novice owners. They are not anything like owning a Golden Retriever, so please, be sure that is what you want before buying.
That's good info. I've had a rotty and a Dobe. I currently have an australian shepherd / border C mix.
I was looking at a G Shepherd when I ran across this breed.
I'm a runner and I do some dog training. I was looking for another jogging buddy and a dog for my 7 acre homestead. I lost my rotty two years ago and I would love to have another one. But I still get pretty torn up when I even just see one, I'm not sure if I would get over him quicker with another one around or not.
thanks i own rottweilers, akita ,shihtzu, minipin. and this breed also fascinates me looks like a rott when a puppy. i love guard dogs thank again from elagio kennels philippnes
I own a few "American Black and Tan Coonhound" the origine of this breed is not certain but I have a feeling that the Beauceron may have been part of the start of that breed way back then, I may be wrong. The marking is the same, the big difference is the long ears and the corpulance who make me think that the Bloodhound was part of it too ?
The berger de Beauce is practically unknown here aux USA. Nice VIDEO, Thank you.
There is a marvelous breeder in Independence, Missouri. She trained my Service dog, a Beauceron. She has bred many champions. Her kennel name is Canine Specialty Training.
Wonderful video. It makes me sad that my dog has passed and excited that in August I shall be owned by another. Thanks for spending the time. This is a wonderful breed.
