if I didnt care i wouldnt post the video at all, I cant spend hours filming a video for youtube so it looks amazing. It is about the information. if you want a pretty video you should not be watching a tutorial.
so i know your a nikon lover and thats cool i dont hate nikon but.... why not get the canon 5d mk ii for like a third of the price and probably takes better pictures for landscape and then you could buy a ton of lenses??
@ILLTEACHYOUPHOTOSHOP true it is the best deal for landscape photography but I need something fast for wildlife. Nikon lenses are also much better than canon at the moment. The nikon 14-24mm, 16-35mm, 70-200mm VR2, 85 f/1.4 and many of the new lenses that are coming out are better than anything I have ever seen, sharp from corner to corner at the largest f/stop. Hopefully canon will catch up.
You realize that 'f stop' and aperture mean the same thing, right? Cause most people just say aperture. Just saying; you do a pretty good job on these, but all that f stop talk sounds really clunky.
Hey QQ, good video, nice suggestions. I would add to the mix an ND filter, that way you can shoot in bright daylight and still get 'longer' exposures without over blowing the subject and getting the velvet flowing textures out of the water.
you recommend using the lowest ISO your camera can, this won't give you the best technical quality. I.E. the D90 goes down to LO1 (ISO 100) but 200 is its sensors native ISO. The sensor gathers light at ISO 200 then gains it for a high ISO or lowers it for low ISO. But obviously if you are going for a longer shutter, the overall look of your picture is more important. I only mention this so people don't use Lo1 just because they think it will get them better quality.
@Bloop586 Not trying to be one of those "actually you're wrong" guys. Just didn't want people dealing with slower shutters just because they think Lo1 is somehow better than ISO200. Not that anyone can probably tell the difference anyways without a microscope. Using lo1 is a great way to reduce shutter speed a bit if you don't have an ND filter on you.
@QQQQcon I've never actually tested this myself since I assumed the difference would be slight if any and but I'm no expert. I've just read and heard from numerous sources that there will be little or no less noise in the image and you will get decreased dynamic range and an image that will require more sharpening. I believe I first heard this from a podcast with Scott Bourne who personally got that answer from a Nikon Engineer. If you think it looks better though then maybe you're right
@Bloop586 either way, your videos are great and very informative. Always cool when people who have a great skill are willing to share with others. Also you have some amazing stuff on Flickr. Keep up the awesome work.
@Bloop586 I dont think its that you "have" to sharpen more, its just that you can, and it will make it look better, when shooting at higher iso's when you sharpen you sharpen the image as well as the noise, so it doesnt look very good.. But the grain will naturally make detail look a bit more "sharp", more so in a black and white picture.
@Bloop586 all I know is that blue skys have noticeably less noise in then on LO1. I am not sure about any other claims but like I said other than noise I see no difference.
Hi, ive been observing your photography and it is amazing. i wish i was a s talented as you are. but i have a question!!! you have pictures of underwater wildlife. how do you do that?

@munchbox1995 I was thinking the exact same thing!!

I would have also mentioned that it would be good to put a 2 sec shot delay in order to avoid camera move when you release the shutter.
But that's my own opinion.

can't you use a neutral density filter to darken it and be able to use longer exposures?
garymurphy25 10 months ago
what kind of tripod do you have?
StevenRHaz 1 year ago
ND Filters and Polarizer = WIN!
Vamp1963 1 year ago
You can also use the neutral gray filter to reduce the light to be able to take pictures in bright sunlight at 1 second

@Bloop586 I have tested this and LO1 has less noise than ISO 200. I see no difference in any other aspect of image quality.

@Bloop586 Like QQQQcon said, Ive tested it (a little) as well, and noise is less on LO1, which in my opinion is better quality.

@chapiz321 underwater housing or aquarium.

for photographing rivers, i use f/8, and use some nd filters. if its a wide angle lens, i would use a smaller aperture.
hey what happened to your rb67? or do you just not carry the 10 pound setup
