A FEW WEEKS AGO I WAS INSPIRED TO WRITE A SONG AFTER LISTENING TO THE TOWWN RIDDIM PROD. BY SABZI. I LINKED UP WITH THIS CAT NAME $URGICAL AND WE SET IT OFF! MY SONG ENTITLED "TOWWN" ALSO FEATURES B-STYLE AND RU$H.. COME BY AND CHECK IT OUT.. FEEDBACK IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED WHATEVER YOUR THOUGHTS ARE JUST GIVE IT A LISTEN, THUMBS IF YOU FEEL IT. THANK YOU!
lol@Audiophile comment. Still, these guys truly fit their name "Blue Scholars." Dude doesn't even need an MPC to make not just good, but AMAZING beats for Geo to tell it how it is over.
I used to record and do remixes utilizing boom boxes too. LOL! Move up to a 12 track and remember scrubbing? That shit was tedious. Kids these days have it all easy with the digital technology.
Though I agree that gear shouldnt be the main concern of a producer, I nonetheless miss something in vid's like this. There never mention how they mix their sounds, how they use compression/filtering/etc, to make the sound really fat (even though Sabzi shows a nice trick in the next vid).
i use acid music studio for everything. for anyone who is just trying to record some shit then all you need is a mic and acid installed on your computer. I highly recommend it. Cakewalk I havent used but I hear its good too.
4:15...lol, not that anybody cares but I did a similar boom box thing to add samples to my mix's back in 1992 when I was 12...haha. I had the original mix tape playing back through the mixer for rerecord on secound unit.Sent 1 very rehearsed mix packed full of cleaver little extras to a DJ Mag comp....That mix would have been a winner if it could have been heard through all the noise n' tape hiss. !! pmsl
these are really great interviews, but I think people call it "conscious hiphop" because of the perspective behind the lyrics, not so much because it has double high hats or whatever.
i like that there is conscious hiphop in the northwest and i like that word, i dont see a problem with it, im proud of it, i think the rebirth of hiphop is gunna happen in seattle just like it did for rock
hit me up wit some beats Sabz!!!!
