One of my most lasting video game memories is the first time I fought the big silver boss in this game. He ducked off screen and that ginormous fireball hit me out of nowhere...I let out an audible yelp.
Guys I have to admit in the end of the game the music is sooo touching that almos I was gonna cry ;( ,,,,,,,,,, DAAAAAAAAMN UNIVERSAL SPLENDID GAMEEEEEEEEE, AND MUSIC ----- EPIIIIIIIIIC !!!!
Thanks heaps for this, i'm lazy to not ROM it already but will eventually, been really missing seeing the ending credits for ages, the best shooter on the genesis, and awesome game up with the others like Gunstar Heroes, streets of rage and sonic etc, legendary game....
I remember that my parents were playing this game when I was 4 years old (1994)
I never knew how the game was called until I found it on the internet 9 years later...
And during all this time, I was wondering what was the name of this game... The only things I remembered from this game were the music of the first level, the moment where our allies bring a reactor on the ship and the last boss
And now I wonder how my parents made to finish this game without gameover
It doesn't come up often... I think that a hidden attraction of TF4 is refreshing sound effects.
All SE was made very thoughtfully; burst, launch, voice, and so on. They match the solid&hardcore atmosphere of the game, and bring us pleasure of destruction.
epic game everything about this game is straight a this is really a gem and snes nor other 16bit console have shooters this good and esspecially not at the time 1992 not a snes not neo geo not shrap pc68000 thing, don't why people cal the sharp x68000 a console since it,s brought like a pc so thus a game pc not an console.
a interesting thing is when you see that screen before it tallys up ur score, if you look at the 3 dots one of them says crying time and the one above that says busted (at least from my prespective
I guess most Japanese players think it's cool to have knicknames. They think It's cooler to exhibit knickname than Japanese real name. At least, I think so. Maybe, most Japanese don't feel their real name to be very cool.
Great Move to avoid the Tracking lasers on the first form...BUT you can destroy the Blaster it hides in in the first go around by letting the Thunder Sword charge after every blast. Making so you don't have to fight through it's pattern a second time.
one of my all time fave games, i played this so much back in the day that i finished the game on mania without dying. and played it everyday what a superb shooter i guess they dont make them like they used to do

I picked up V not too long ago. (PS1 version) Incredibly awesome game. I wanted to get the Saturn version, but its going for sky high prices everywhere I look. IV was awesome, but it really kicked my ass.
You can see the broken Rynex in TF4 ending. A cockpit with two pilots warped and survived, but broken Rynex drifted from the orn system(the stage of TF1,2,3,4) and arrived at Kuiper Belt(near the Pluto). And Human living on the Earth called it "Vast-ian's steel=Vasteel". With the technology in Vasteel the Human made the Babel, Guardian, Gauntlet, Vambrace, and so on. That is cause that Babel and Guardian could reconstruct Vasteel Original in stage5 of TF5.
I love the way as your flying from the explosions and then the huge whiteout and your ship buckles......IMMENSE!

Holy shit! It was the same for me, except I remembered the game by the ship's features. Like the two big red cannon on each side.

Cult shooter, awesome game... 1992!!!!!
Thunderforce IV and R-Type are, in fact, the best shooters of the 16 bits era. I'm very proud of have them in original cartridge!!
Remember the marvellous sound when the ship explodes, the own death freaking me out!

so cult, so long, so hard.....Thunder force last stage is simply mythic. Shame that the first stages of TF4 are a bit easy, with too small sprites

when i finished the game, in the high score name entering menu, it says: 'expert pilots'
does this mean i completed the game in expert difficulty?
alnore1986 3 years ago
No, there is not "expert" difficulty in this game. You can press start with holding A button in title, to see it in config mode.

And at the end, is the beginning of TFV where the Earth probe finds Rynex drifting in space. At least that's what I think.
