That's a fair comment. But they would also have to be speaking a kind of "Englished" American for it to be the same - so Mr Bean in America, everyone's scoffing down burgers and using the word "trousers" as if we were too lazy to appreciate that Americans use the word "pants". But as far as classic literature is concerned, it's usually that English landscapes are shifted to accommodate American vernacular, rather than the other way around. So it can be a bit frustrating after a while.
