I think that I broke the record time for not pulling the trigger.. I was sitting there for like three hours and then finally pulled the trigger. Manly tears
Did you know that if you press L1/R1 (whatever the looking button is, I forgot) when the horse neighs you can see the Sorrow and the Boss' spirits. No joke.
Proplay my favorite metal gear solid game. Hardest challenge, great charters, sad endings, and it seemed like big boss was more emotional and apathic. While solid snake was not. Big boss is my fav charter now, to bad he dies. And it sucks that the boss dies because she was never a bad guy, she just didn't want to fight anymore. Great story line with so many heart breaking moments. :)
@lgeass88 the hardest thing for me was actually attempting to fight the boss...and also trying to find the strength and "lakc of heart" to pull the trigger...when i pulled the triegger i burst into tears then got so pissed when ocelot showed up
For some reason i can remember what i said in my head and i want to say what it was "I cant kill the boss she is only the innocent...the sorrow would only be shamfull at me...well...here i go" then i pulled the trigger after about 10 minutes...RIP to the boss...May we all be in sorrow...May we all be proud...May we all be...in tears...
when i first defeated her :( i just stood there not doing anything...i was refusing to kill her...after all i saw in that storyline that connects snake and the boss i just couldnt kill her 5 minutes later i ifnally pulled the trigger then...the many lears started flowing
The Boss is a good soldier. But I don't think she's a warrior. To me, the difference between a soldier and a warrior is a soldier fights for a cause outside himself and is dictated by the will of others. But a warrior fights for what HE believes in, not because he's told to but because he chooses to. That's why I think Solid Snake, Ocelot, EVA, and Gray Fox ("We are not tools of the government") are warriors, not soldiers.
@louie540x Yea lol next time you watch an episode with Pearl just listen to her voice it'll make you laugh so hard and I hate to say it but you'll never quite look at The Boss the same way haha.
I cried just watching this again. To me the sign of a great game is if it can get me so emotionally attached to a character that I actually cry. Metal Gear Solid 3 is truly a great game.
they need to make a Metal Gear Solid game where you play as the boss... such an amazing and epic character, with a fantastic voice actor. I mean she is the reason and inspiration for the Patriots, the woman who set the whole series in motion, why not explore her history more? MGS3 is still my favorite of the series, they need to make another prequel so there is another game where everything can't be attributed to nanomachines.
@BizzyTkiD Yeah I can't wait for the HD Collection! Finally Xbox users like myself can play MGS2, MGS3, and Peace Walker. I just ordered MGS1 from eBay so then I'll just need to play MGS4 and Portable Ops.
This is one of the saddest video game endings I have ever experienced. It even brought me to tears when I first saw this. The thought of killing The Boss, Snake's mentor, the mother of the special forces was too much to bear. I hestitated at pulling the trigger but then I did. This game will remain my favorite MGS game forever. The Sorrow, The Joy, nothing could compare to what I felt when I played this. Let the soul of The Boss live on in the heart of Big Boss, and that she was a True Patriot.
i hated this game. at the end i never hit tat botton at the end idk y i just think its a fucked up ending 2 a game i just wouldt do it myself so why do it in a game im sorry i love the game but still hate that part it took me 10 min 2 hit tat botton
saddest ending in video game history.makes me want to cry everytime i see it.it seems like a real situation how everytime you get to the gun part drenched in tears and hesitate to pull the trigger thinking maybe something else will happen.but nothing happens, you just gotta face the consequences after the trigger is pulled.im pretty sure people go through this in war where people are told "kill me" when their near death or their mission to kill but theres that saying kill one you save a million.
I never wanted to NOT pull the trigger to an ending boss in a video game. This whole franchise was SO DEEP in story telling & character development it's a shame there isn't more Metal Gear games coming ...and I hope I am wrong. METAL GEAR is so AWESOME!
First game I ever played of metal gear. I was so impressed by it, so awed by it. The Boss' death was one video gaming moment I'll never soon forget. That song after she dies, I about shed a tear when I heard it and sadly I can never find it. It's truly gaming moments like this that inspire people. Like it did for me. It broadened my story concept of the father's of my character's, vigilantes of WW2: The Hand of Liberty.
One of the most saddest cutscenes in MGS history. Snake will always have the feeling of The Boss in him and even his son, Solid Snake, knows about her. She was a true hero, even though portrayed as a war criminal. Nobody will know what The Boss did or who she was, but in Snake's Eyes, she was a true Patriot.
@3lliott1337 after big boss lost his eye in mgs3 he tried to catch a butterfly but missed, later in the game he moulded some c3 into the shape of a butterfly, threw it in the air and said 'gotcha this time'. This was meant to show that snakes will and determination had increased. i have not played peace walker unfortunatly but i imagine its just a throwback to those moments in mgs3
@cuteharpseals101 If you watch the whole ending and understand WHY things turn out like this, you'll cry like I cried the first time I played this game.
Painful. The Boss was awesome. I really like the part when she hands him the Legacy. He'd go on to build Militaires Sans Frontieres and fulfilling his mentor's dream of a world without nations or ideologies.
@qohs79 You would have to play the game but that was a scar that she got during childbirth if I remember correctly (might be mistaken but fairly sure I am correct) It looked like a snake that's why it slithered of her, No nano machines or anything this was set in the 50's during cold war before MSG 1.
@roxasthekeyoffate65 Well yeah, it is symbolic, it just doesn't explain how it happens. Guess there should be no reason though, since The Sorrow can communicate even after he's dead
The simple adding of her horse, that could tell she had died and was obviously in pain itself about its masters death made the whole scene just that much more powerful.
the truly best game ever splinter cell:eat your heart out cause you cant hold a candle to the best stealth game and possibly the best game the world will see
@hyperundead Eva takes the Legacy when he's asleep. Snake eventually gets the funds from Gene's "Army's Havean" to create "Outer Heaven". Ocelot (I think) brings him the other half of the Legacy later in life.
the first time I doubt and pull the trigger after a minute, the second play through I Zoom in and wait for some minutes contemplating the scene, I let the button go and the game do it by itself. my third I just have to press the button fast it hurts me to do this every time.
It took me around 5 minutes to pull that trigger, This is with no doubt the best I've ever played. I could play it 1000 times and never get bored. The Boss is the best female video game character ever for me.
Such an ingenius decision that the player has to pull the trigger. It's one thing to fight a boss fight in a game and reduce your opponents life points to zero and then sit back and watch a sequence, but it's a whole other story, if you have to knowingly deliver the killing blow to a character by yourself. It was never so hard to push a button. I remember hesitating for a whole minute at least before pulling the trigger. This feeling has yet to be reproduced by any game. Best PS2 Game ever.
@Wurzelknecht I personally agree with all you have said, though I would dare add that this is the best ps2 game ever along with Final Fantasy X, wich is definetly another one not to be forgotten.
@LordFeanor89 FFX is definitively one of the greatest PS2 games ever, I agree. And although I say MGS3 is "the" best for me, it's only slightly the best. With all the great Competition on the PS2 (FFX, Silent Hill2, Shadow of the Colossus, P4 and so on) It's save to say (at least for me) that the PS2 is the best console ever. The new generation will have a LOT to prove before pushing this black little box of fun off the top.
@Wurzelknecht As if you think the same way as me :D i agree 100% that msg was the greatest ps2 game but i thought the ending of this and FFX were possibly some of the greatest endings of an video game out :)))
@feedmenow27 Definetly. But I think for me the most satisfying ending ever, was the admittedly really cheesy ending of FFVIII. Maybe because it was my first big RPG and my first FF, maybe because I needed so goddamn long to finish it, but I never enjoyed an ending with such a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. I love FFX's bitter-sweet ending (although I know FFX-2) but after 100+ of hours of playing, I usually want my puppys and unicorns Happy Ending XD
@Wurzelknecht Couldn't agree more. Quite simply the best game ever made in my opinion.
ALSO!
MGS Peace Walker is incredible. Seriously guys. I am listening to EVA's audio files on what the Boss went through during her lifetime...my god, I don't think I've ever felt more sorry for The Boss than I do now. She had the shittiest life imaginable.
My honest hope is that if MGS5 is annonced, and it features Big Boss, that it combines the best elements of PW and MGS3 to make the final MGS game stellar.
@2ndprodigy Totally agree to go back and just learn more about The Boss is great. I was so excited when i got EVA's tapes I stayed up all night replaying them over and over. MGS still stands IMO has having the greatest voice actors ever, with the same voice actors for over 10 years.
The most amazing part is that in most games, players would just mow down dozens of computer graphics known as "characters". In this game, you actually care about and respect the bosses (especially The End and The Boss)
@Wurzelknecht And that too a good character until the very end who unbeknown-st to the player yet, was repenting. Well not really repenting, but we hadn't learned her true motives until the very end.
how do you take a screen shot of a game or something? I want the part in this scene where it shows The Boss and The Sorrows ghost next to each other. (its when the horse comes out you press l1) and idk how to do it
Dude, first time I had to kill The Boss, I was crying like waterfalls, didn't even understand I had to push the gun. I was like, "DON'T DO IT" and then I get what to do...
@Danitushful Well I looked on the GameFAQ message board and someone posted a rumor of a November release. although I have no idea if that's only in Japan or not. So possibly as early as November. If the rumor isn't true then probably some time next year.
The tears I shed at this scene man. Didn't pull the trigger for 10 minutes.

@Wurzelknecht I personally agree with all you have said, though I would dare add that this is the best ps2 game ever along with Final Fantasy X, wich is definetly another one not to be forgotten.
LordFeanor89 1 year ago
@LordFeanor89 FFX is definitively one of the greatest PS2 games ever, I agree. And although I say MGS3 is "the" best for me, it's only slightly the best. With all the great Competition on the PS2 (FFX, Silent Hill2, Shadow of the Colossus, P4 and so on) It's save to say (at least for me) that the PS2 is the best console ever. The new generation will have a LOT to prove before pushing this black little box of fun off the top.
Wurzelknecht 1 year ago
@Wurzelknecht As if you think the same way as me :D i agree 100% that msg was the greatest ps2 game but i thought the ending of this and FFX were possibly some of the greatest endings of an video game out :)))
feedmenow27 1 year ago

2ndprodigy 1 year ago 21
@2ndprodigy Totally agree to go back and just learn more about The Boss is great. I was so excited when i got EVA's tapes I stayed up all night replaying them over and over. MGS still stands IMO has having the greatest voice actors ever, with the same voice actors for over 10 years.

@2ndprodigy well they're releasing peace walker in a mgs bundle for ps3 and 360 now :)

@Wurzelknecht
The most amazing part is that in most games, players would just mow down dozens of computer graphics known as "characters". In this game, you actually care about and respect the bosses (especially The End and The Boss)
Kersey475 1 year ago
@Wurzelknecht And that too a good character until the very end who unbeknown-st to the player yet, was repenting. Well not really repenting, but we hadn't learned her true motives until the very end.

@Danitushful Well I looked on the GameFAQ message board and someone posted a rumor of a November release. although I have no idea if that's only in Japan or not. So possibly as early as November. If the rumor isn't true then probably some time next year.
