By the way, there is a Sports Science segment on nether the new style of backboards can be broken. They had Amare try to break them and he never could. I don't know if this was one of the breakaway backboards or not but this is not supposed to happen. Breakaway backboards have the rim attached to the frame of the basket, not even touching the glass

Ya, the NBA rims are bolted onto the the steel arm which connects all the way down to the base. The one in the video has the rim bolted onto the glass which means you can easily tear the rim off the glass. If you look at the NBA hoops there is a steel support arm which connects to the rim. This rim had nothing behind it, just glass.
