Love the music, and very interesting video. Was this locomotive used time and time again? If so how long did it last? I noticed the poor truck only lasted two times.
What a waste of good working locs/cars/containers. For the money they stuffed into this they could have reinforced every drivers cabin in the USA. And it might be a idea to put people in the drivers cabin who are able to think logically and don't crash in the first place.
Yep that's 70s disco music all right. I think it was called "Soul Express," and there was a dance troupe called the "Locker Dancers" that had an amazing routine to this song. Also, it takes a lot of forces to get a 200 ton locomotive to stand up on its hind legs like that.
sd70 mac engine model impresive to see the fotage of teh stelll roll hiting straight in the cab , look @ 2:29 aprox 15 tons of pure stell straight in the cab , tath was the heaviest damage on cab
Wow these trains sure do take more damage than i first thought..
I guess they could always armour the cockpit with thick steel, it's a train it isn't like it's going to impact it's load capacity or anything, they're virtually unstoppable anyway unless it hits another train head-on then armour would likely be useless.
@PintSizedSlasherJr - Good grief NO, it's not sex music! This tune was from the 1970s during the disco era. I was a teen then and had this song on cassette tape. I forgot its name. People used to dance and/or rollerskate to this tune. Nothing at all to do with sex or porn. Compared to today, the 1970s was a much, much cleaner time period as far as music goes. I sure miss those days.
@masonclan A train engine can way on average of 250-400 tons a piece. a tank only weighs 40-60 tons, The tank would more than likely lose, but the train would take extreme damage. I also would like to say that tanks can have armor up to two feet thick. the crew inside would probably live but would be shaken.
No - the flashes are from cameras that are recording the moment of impact. This video is from the Department of Transportation who was testing the effects of the collisions on the train's driver.
groovy music...too bad nobody died :(``

Its so rare that we get good quality, well shot, slow motion videos of trains crashing into other trains at high speeds with the excuse of safety :)
