  • Does the WD TV HD Media Player have WiFi Built-in?

  • Comment removed

  • Where can I buy this model? The WDTV Live does not have analogue video out and I have a traditional tv.

  • This thing is awesome! I bought this because ps3 put cinavia on the latest firmware update. It blocks the audio on newer movies. Fuck you sony, If i buy a movie why can't a make a digital copy!?

  • and yeah there are models with built in hdd u can buy if u dunt want to connect ur external or thumb drive to it.

  • i have had it for a while works perfect for me no problems till now i connect my 2tb external to it it plays almost anything mkvs avis mp4s u name it last night tried a 3d movie was big 11gig file played it with no problems quality was great depends on the download i guess. i have got it connected to my 55 inch 3d led lcd with hdmi v1.4 and for audio i connect it to my yamaha home theatre using an optical audio cable.

  • very nice, . .. though there's no storage . .. there should be at least a small hard drive on it to store 4, 5 movies

  • why has computer tv kept this dick ... i liked albert ... he just reads out of papers.

  • I'm glad i have a samsung hdtv that has 2 usb ports and can play videos, images, music with no problem at all.

  • does it play .mkv files

  • @Blakeitar06 I have't tired it yet. but I do know that it plays .AVI format.

  • @basketballdude8221 plays anything. The only problem i had is with some windows media stuff. But who the hell uses that anymore anyway

  • I'm new to all this, and I'm wondering what is the best file format to rip and store DVDs with?

  • I bought one of these things and it froze up and wouldn't work properly. I returned it thinking that unit may be defective, the replacement did the same thing and ended up wiping all of the files from my hard drive. I contacted tech support SEVERAL times and they were unable to help me. This was a huge waste of my time and deleted all files from my hard drive.

  • question how can you watch MUSIC on your TV

  • yes they do

  • I wonder if it supports up to 1tb of external hard drive and supports divx and avi formats since those are mostly video formats I have

  • H264 is a very popular format Did WD HD player play that too.?

  • Problems, again and again. I just want to play dvd's / ts-files. Had many problems with the network and now it can't play the ts-files.

Is there any info on wireless keyboards that I can use for this device???

  • how much did you buy it?

  • You must have a problem with your set up.

I've had mine for 6 months now with no problems whatsoever.

    1. Subtitles work perfectly!

    2. I use a 1.5 tb external drive with over 400 movies on it. . Movies load instantly.

    3. Sound is excellent. Never had the volume variations you mention.

  • @calypso22

Ok I got some things sorted out

1.It does load movies instantly on mac formatted drive , another one i got is FAT32 and it's getting stuck on that one form time to time , but i should use NTFS maybe.

2.Just plugged it in the Yamaha V450 and it's great , some HD movies i downloaded got 6.1 some 5.1 , sounds amazing , so I guess my LG tv got some issues with the sound from HDMI cable, also uses RCA cables and no problems too.

When it comes to subs it doesnt read txt with divx movie

  • @calypso22

With the subs/video files can you use .srt files?

  • i got it downsides are :

    1.Subtitles usually do not work

2.Takes ages to load movie if u got a big hard drive and it's scanning it

3.the worst is the sound it goes up and down all the time witch makes it impossible to use as an audio player with your home theater

  • is no internal hard disk?

  • @nojodacarajo

No. you have to hook one up via usb to an external hard drive.

I wonder if they might come out with a firewire version?

  • can i watch bluray movies on it ?

  • @dazky11994

Yes, if they are ripped and encoded video files. It plays up to 1080p

  • ya it will play subs

  • @applecorevideo

Yes it plays SRT subtitle file

  • @bakeelao

    Cool!

    Thannks!

  • What about sutitles. Can this thing handle it(adding manual subtitles)

  • every time i plug in my studio passport into the wd tv live plus, it freezes right away

can you help me fix this?

  • Can i play Mp4 file with this player?

  • @shakeel018 Yup, it play mp4 files.

  • i´ve got the gen 2 and some mp4 dosen´t work..... :(

    any solution for that......??? pls

  • Why don't just connect your computer to your TV and share your screen to it? Then ALL formats will work, it's easier and cheaper.. or am I not understanding this products purpose properly? Cheers

  • @stjaertlam some tvs dont have vga ports anymore that port it scarce for tv now

  • i have a question...

can the movies and/or music be saved into the WD TV HD Media Player? or does the usb have to be plugged in the whole time?

  • @losr18 no this plugs into your tv and a hard drive plugs into the side. the idea being that you keep this plugged into your tv and plug the harddrive into the computer put your data on and connect to this. hope i helped :)

  • @losr18 it has no built in storage, hence hooking it into an external flash or hard drive

  • @losr18 The USB storage device should be plugged in the whole time.

  • yeah .1337 viewer :D:D:D!!!!!

  • too much talkin shhhh

  • does it work with mkv?

  • @TubeMunken yep..

    it should :P

  • sweet!!
