  • This isn't a tandem; "tandem" means one person sits behind the other. This is a "sociable", which means the riders sit side-by-side. They're more common as quadricycles than bicycles, for some reason.

  • Siamese twins must love these.

  • Seen it in Germany in 1986

  • This bike appears identical to the ones custom-made made by Bob Barrett in Angola NY. Bullseye sealed hubs, 40 spoke wheels. Cranks fold up, seat crossbar folds, steering yoke folds, so not much bigger than a normal ten speed to transport. I have one. A friend bought a similar bike made in Australia a few years ago. I have ridden it with a huge pink stuffed rabbit (maybe eight pounds) as the passenger. Traffic is not problem as everyone slows down for this baby, even without the rabbit.

  • Imagine if one person weighed a little and the other weighed a lot.

  • well...just cuz you dont know what catilever means does not make you an idiot...but you probably know best..

  • tcfc thats all haha

    too close for comfort

  • And what if it come like this "hey turn right , No! turn left! BOOM :P

  • I have one. It's as easy to ride as any other bike. The weight differential isnt terribly critical but it will necessarily lean towards the lighter rider but you hardly notice the difference in controllability.

  • that is bicycle for a tsjernobyl-born guy with for legs

  • How would that work if they wre differnt weights?? They would be off balance and fall off ???? :D

  • shit i wount want to be next to my bitch.. i moob my bike to avoid the hoe for a while.

  • Tardem imo.

  • it looks fake

  • This isn't a tandem at all. It's a sociable. Tandem is one person sitting behind another.

  • this is great!

  • this one sucks in practice

  • wat if one of them was skinny? itd fall over

  • I know a man who has one that is in great shape. I dont think it was a good idea when I look at the thing but if someone wants to buy it im sure its for sale since it is just sitting in the basement.

  • BikerChrisH I have been looking high and low for a side by side like this, if you could help me get in contact with the man with the bike i would be so appreciative. Thanks

  • not a problem but the bike is in new jersey. maybee your too far to come see the bike. let me know and ill send you a number.

  • For wheels and one driver should make it safer xD

  • Communication, communication!!!

  • I guess you have to decide where you want to go and don't disagree on who's steering!

  • lol

  • LOL

    DORKIEST THING EVER.

  • lololol pas croyable

  • I want one of these. :D

  • lol hahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahhahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaahhahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahhahaahhahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahysrxdt7fzguhnjiomkprgaeguheiurhgldhfgOHGOUHDFJGHAKJHGRTHGJHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Hi.

Im the owner/driver in this video.

Different weight riders not a problem, the bike just leans slightly. Foot sliping off, no problem, no different from a normal tandem. Cranks, yes an engineering nightmare! This particular version was provided to top selling Miyata dealers in the late 1970s as a prize/promo. I think about 10 were made. Based on modified Takara 12 speed road bikes. There were newer mtb based versions that would be stronger and more reliable. Patent 4178008.

  • cool bike, did take a few days to get the hang of this, let me know thanks.

  • I was riding as the passenger (the owner, who was on the left, had the controls), and it was surprisingly easy. The owner said that he can ride solo or with riders of different sizes. Riding felt weird, but even though this was the first time I'd ever tried this, we were able to ride down the road, turn around and come back.

  • excellent, you must be a natural. do you get these anywhere in the UK?

  • There was one on offer last summer in the U.K. They were invented there in the 1800's, so there are a few around, but only second-hand.

  • what if u had a fat guy and skinny guy?

  • You'd go in circles.

  • @matt1qaz I tried one of these with a friend who weight 80 pounds less than me. No problem! Thanks for posting!

  • its not a "new" innovation people

    they've been around for ages........

    they are pretty cool though.

  • wot if other doesn't feel liek riding, u wud be pwnt, my suggesting is to get 1 bike each gg...

  • I agree with mbeeston rofl i saw this i was like wtf i can understand two seperate bicycles but not one and two having to pedal for it to work. One dude leans to much and they both fall or one of them tries to turn right while the other goes left,,, foot slip,,, there goes ur whole leg....

  • That has got bad idea written all over it! One guys foot slips off the pedal he brings the other down. Nice innovation tho, think it needs some tweaking

  • what happend if one drunk?

  • lol !!!

  • What if riders weigh way too different from each other? like OO-oo

  • lol my buddy made one of theese ;D

  • man, if you sell that conversion, this could be a million dollar idea!!!! i am serious!

  • Haha......

The bicycle is so interesting ^_^

  • how, or where did you come about that cantilever crank? i want one!!

  • There have been a few of these bikes produced commercially. I don't actually own one, and I'm not sure whether anyone ever offered cranks like this for sale, but it wouldn't be too hard to make them.

  • @Woorna do you even know what cantilever means?..this is not a cantilever crank.

  • @s2who you're right s2who, i'm an idiot

  • i wiill go right you go left lol

  • thats so neat! ive never seen anything like that

  • Hilarious to see fall on that.
