OK. If I was staying in a hotel room, and Geoff Tate's room was right next to mine, and I heard him singing in the shower, I wouldn't care how loud he sang. I would have an audio recorder ready to go!
Sorry I can't believe Geoff. He's got to be doing something to get his voice going, Even more when the highs are reached through his head voice. Damn, you can see him live, his eyes get about to pop up from his head when he gets high and load. He must had broken a vase or two on his eyes.
I found out in my opera class that I have been taking, that singers with large voices or high voices, there lungs extrude a chemical that actually makes the singer fat after a wile.
and lets face it what hardcore queensryche and gnr fan wouldnt wanna see 2 of the best frontman in rock history on stage together? i would pay a thousand dollar for that ticket. maybe
no i totally agree with you it always comes down to dollars and cents for the most part but thats not to say musicians arent there to put on a good performance but a queensryche and guns n roses tour would sell thousands if not millions of tickets, especially since axls chinese democracy is doing so well and mindcrime2 just came out a couple of years ago. and btw the metallica guns n roses tour was a complete disaster i dont really like metallica.
From my understanding, bands can have a large sway in whom they want to go and tour with. But, when the lingo, "In the business.." arises...it's just that, how much capital are we discussing.
Note: I'm not insinuating that Geoff and Queensryche are money hounds. I'm stating my observation, is it right? Statistically, yes.
So, when you look at the big money makers of the year...remember when Metallica and GNR toured, or when the Stones tour...they pull in crazy amounts of money, figures unk
hey vocalsmag i really appreciate you taking the time to listen and answer my question and by the way i didnt know it was up to the record labels to decide, i thought it was up to geoff himself if he wanted to tour with gnr. and btw i love queensryche as well ive been listening to them since i was 15.
This interview was July 11, 2008. Less than six month ago. There are some rumors of Queensryche recording another album, that's probably why they've been out of the loop.
Could Queensryche and GNR go at it on a tour? That's for the big boys to decide (record labels). I, we, can suggest a tour, but frankly, it's up to the accountants if it'd be a profitmaker.
I am a die hard Queensryche fan, listening to them ever since childhood. To finally meet the mind behind the voice, wow..
and hey ken since you have the right connections to queensryche would you please put in a request to geoff tate and ask him for a future tour with guns n roses? thanks
its always been my dream to see queensryche and guns n roses tour together that would be a dream come true. think that will ever happen? chinese democracy just came out so who knows
Let me say, this is the interviewer. Geoff Tate still belts the notes out effortlessly (or he's that damn good!) and makes great points.
Furthermore, Geoff has been the mastermind of lyrical architecture and with that, he's going to be on the cover of the next Vocals Magazine issue. Don't believe it? Go to my Facebook or Myspace and look at it. I went by today, the issue looks awesome.
Blacky156, say what you will. But let the "those who know" steer.
