Those roads are sick, I think I only saw one patched pothole in the whole vid. Not even a pothole, a patched pothole. So jealous, with winter in Chicago.......our roads look like somebody dropped bombs on them.
Then again, isn't like infrastructure and building like an insane amount of the Japanese GDP? It's like their version of the military-industrial complex. But at least you can ride your bike in peace.
dont you remember when you were a kid, and you put playing cards on your spokes and pretended your bike was a motorcycle! Or am I the only one who did that?
yea about the not leaning balls on the stem and just skidding sitting i tried that and cant do it and ive been riding fixies four 5 or 6 years and i still dont get it
walrusflareblaze, for a diff kinda skid, instead of leaning ur nuts over the stem, lay ur nuts on the top tube. I find this kinda position better for when i'm just doing a short skid in mid sprint. Or learn one leg skid, that'll help u fig out diff positions.
use toe clips, push down hard on your dominant foot and up on the other. you will be able to do sit down skid's. asd you first learn them slightly stand up as you push down and up, with time you'll get them up.
i find it easier to pull up with your dominant foot because pulling up is the harder job and if the stronger leg does it then the easier the skidding will be. but that's just me
Great video and a really good soundtrack. I'm surprised people are getting a little touchy about things like the handlebars, functionality isn't always everything! The guys who ride with them don't seem to take themselves to seriously so why are people on here?
I am impressed by your handlebars. Why have track drops on a bike if you are never going to use them? Why only wrap the drops if you only use the flats? Why flip bullhorns upside down and lose the additional hand position? If you want to use the flats, just buy risers. Or you could take advantage of the additional hand positions drops and bullhorns provide.
Why? Why do you care? they aren't pros, tourers, racers, etc. they are just having fun, god forbid, and aren't under any pretenses that everything they do is only for function and not aesthetics.
Here is a crazy idea... perhaps it's that persons personal preference. Like Bobby Brown once said "It's my prerogative". Track bars are good for aerodynamics, flat bars are good all around average, and bullhorns are great for climbing/pursuit.
as usual, nice bikes, riding, music, shooting, and video. looks like way too much fun to be had in Ann Arbor Michigan. wish i could go to/ride in japan (if that is where you guys shot in).. props an keep ridin :D
that was pretty cool. nice bikes nice tricks. i jst dont get why they would cut the drop of the bars and leave them like that if not merely for fashion. ah those japanese, always fashionable...
The lower gear(higher cadence) is easier to resist the pedals and easier to get going. That makes it better for skidding, riding backards, wheelies, all manner of tricks.
Man whoever the guy on this purple/white kalavinka bike is, I really adore your bike....the nicest bike I've seen in and around tokyo...and bv the way one of the top fixed gear videos around besides the Mash and Carnival one...Looking forward to see the whole movie (hope there will be one).....

I would use lowered bullhorns, since it's the best sprinting position IMO.
