Hey guys i have a really important question here so please respond ASAP.

Do you have to have Trackir to be able to run the game? Cause some joysticks have a button that you can program to when you hold it down and move the joystick it moves your head instead of the plane. What's the point of buying a 200$ trackir set when you can just use a button on the joystick?

Na dude i'm not gonna get anything like trackIr or freetrack im just gonna stick with a mouse keyboard and joystick. You can still definately get all the fun out of this game without the TrackIr and stuff, just not as interactive.

Get a TrackIR 5. There's no comparison. It's like you're actually in the cockpit.

No, you don't need TrackIR to run the sim. You can just use a hat switch on your joystick, to look around. BUT - 6DOF is mind-blowing in this sim, and if you get a chance, upgrade.

I am currently using the "hat switch" on the logitech extreme 3d pro joystick and it works, you can move both your head and body around in the cockpit using a keyboard, mouse, joystick or whatever you choose.

you dont need trackir to run the game. you couldn't hold that button on your joystick, enabling freelook and maneuver your plane a the same time. trackir improves situational awareness. its not absolutely necessary though

the game is amazing, the main problem the devs need to address is the sniper AI... head to head passes are a surefire way to smoke the motor or catch a round to the face before you so much as damage their plane. Truth.

That sounded a little like a jamming piston there. If this engine can actually simulate engine damage from dropping oil pressure or overheat, I am quite impressed.

So I just read a review, and apparently the game doesn't only do that - it even features full engine management with carb and radiator settings, and of course the consequences of not doing that properly.

That really does give a great impression of what flying was like during that time...how alert you have to be and how fragile the aircraft were. Awesome. I just ordered this game...looks like I'll need track IR and some decent foot pedals.
