  • fish that go good with this kind of fish is a AFRICAN BUTTERFLY DWARF CICHLID a MOONLIGHT GOURAMI a OPALINE GOURAMI

  • i have 1 in a 15 gallon could i get another or maby 3 and also i have an angel fish guvanile

  • @MrGman0909

If the Ram and the Angel are the only fish in the tank, then sure you could add another Ram. They don't get very big. An Angel adult, though, isn't going to do well in a 15.

  • where do u get brine shrimp?

  • I have a 55 gallon planted planted tank too! there about 7 dollars a piece where i am but mine arn't red like yours mine are light yellow with broght blue and yellow and black!

  • Feeding them brine shrimp helps them develop nice colors. It puts them in breeding mode too.

  • theyre cool

how much do they usually cost

  • In fish stores they're usually under 5 dollars each.

  • "Gather 'round, men! Together we can break the bared barrier, and reach the holy food!"

  • Best comment, ever. Thanks!

  • lol, your welcome. Personally, I love cichlids, especially rams.

  • Beautiful Fish! - My dream aquarium is a 55 long, planted, German Blue Ram tank! (kind of like yours!)

Thanks for the detailed information on the drip method. I know it will come in handy as my LFS has PH 7.0 and my water is 7.5+

  • If you provide them with plenty of hiding places, I'd say about 4 to 5 adult Blue Rams in a 20 gal. If other fish are included in the tank mix then fewer.

  • Tank water is slowly dripped into the bag (or container) holding the new fish, usually over many hours. I do it over a 24 hour period. (I've never lost a fish with this method). But 6 to 8 hours is good. Patience is key. A change in water chemistry is more likely to kill new fish than a change in temp. Use a length of air tubing to create a siphon between tank water and the bag with the new fish. Pinch off tubing with a paper clip or a rubber band to create a slow drip.

  • No. It's not true. As long as they are acclimated slowly to the new tank chemistry, they will do fine. I use the drip method, like a medical iv, over about 8 hours.

  • Several years ago, I had a heavily planted 45 gal. tank with various schools of tetras and one vicious female ram. She never bothered any of the other fish but every time that I tried to introduce a new ram, she would kill it on the first day!

  • wow, how many rams do you have? and how many gallons ia your tank?

  • A dozen in a 55 gallon planted tank.

  • cool, they are looking really good!

  • Blue Rams are small, but they are very social fish. One in a 6 gallon tank probably wouldn't do that well.

  • really not even 2 darn but did u see my tank???? and where did u get yours from

  • Two Blue Rams would be much better. I bought mine from a private breeder. But some aquarium stores will special order fish for customers. Most aquarium stores don't stock Dwarf Cichlids because they can be difficult to care for.

  • hi nice fish can i keep 1 in a 6gallon chech my vid if so can i put 1 with corys or afew small tiger tiger or so...... please respond sir¡¡¡¡!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can i keep 2 rams in a 5 gallon? I have heard reeders breeding them is 5 gllns, so???

  • 5 gallons is a little small. Cichlids, even small ones like Blue Rams, need their space.

  • Umm...5 Gallons is small for alot of fish. Lets just say you wont be able to keep alot of fish with a 5 gallon.

  • Yes. They do well as community fish.

  • They are lovely. The video looks professional, for is very clear. Some videos make me dizzy to watch. What size tank is that. Read that some cichlids must have soft water. Is that so with your cichlids?

  • They are beautiful little fish. I used a regular digital camera on the video / macro setting. Most people are afraid to get in close. The lens was so close it was hitting the tank. And if you listen you can hear it smacking against the glass.

  • The tank is 55 gallons. Wild Blue Rams do come from soft water, and my tap water is soft, about GH 4. But tank raised fish are pretty adaptable. Some hobbyists keep Discus and other soft water cichlids in hard water, successfully.

  • RUBAY RUBAY RUBARY RUBAY SO-HO! I haven't heard Rancid in years!

  • Rock'n Roll. The fish love it.

  • FISHY!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!

  • how many do u have

  • A dozen little Blue Rams.

  • Meant Ruby Soho, not Time bomb :P

  • Lol it was so weird watching this video. I'm about to get rams for my tank. My favourite band is Rancid, Time bomb is one of my favourite songs. And my 'internet name' is Dudey, lol.

  • Great minds think alike. Rock on.

  • cool fish. I have a red texas cichlid I posted under "red texas cichlid" if you want to see.

  • I'm not currently trying to breed the Blue Rams but they may accomplish it on their own. I've been keeping fish many years. I've had the Rams about one year. And I'm working on more videos because it is fun and I love fish. Thanks for watching.

  • Lol, I love it. And yeah ditto on the microgeophagus. Planted is the way to go too...my 55 is also planted. It's a bit harder in my 47 tall, but it's moot now that I oscars in there now anyway.

Are you planning to breed or try? How long have you been keeping? Any others? Please post!

  • Thanks vuthya. I added the Apistogramma TAG to video because most Dwarf Cichlids are in that genus. And I wanted Dwarf Cichlid fans to watch. But I called them Mikrogeophagus in title. They are from the same brood. I bought a dozen of them from a private breeder who shipped them to me overnight. They are from wild parents I believe. I just mentioned the Orinoco to show where the species is from. There are 2 to 3 males in there. The big one at beginning is a male, I'm sure.

  • by the way these fish are not apistogramma they are microgeophagus. i noticed that one of the fish is colored differently. she is the one that is not the german variety. she's a plain blue ram. awesome video again.

  • cogratulations on your first video. i love these fish. you have so many. they are so expensive in California. i see many females but no male. did you fish them urself? i am going to post my first video soon enough. i am sure it 'll feel easy when i do my first. thanks!
