Lol, if that's the NSS, then I'm screwed. I've had the same issue. When it did it, I'd disconnect the neg battery cable for a minute, hook back up, and it'd be find. Also, try whackin the strter. If that helps, the starter is toast.
nuetral saftey switch!!! it is doing the exact same thing as mine did. and you can double check to see if it is your neutral saftey switch by seeing if your reverse lights come on. if they dont then it is definitly your nuetral saftey switch.
the starter solenoid goes bad, thats what happens guys. :P cus your oil filter sits above the starter and when it build up it ruins the solenoid. 8 times out of 10 thats the problem, 1 times out of 10 its the ignition switch, and 1 times out of 10 its an ABs fuse that has been blown.
Well, you do have power so your battery has a charge. I would check your battery connections make sure they are clean and tight. make sure your connections at the starter are tight. Then check your starter relay and if that's good I would pull the starter and have it tested. Could be a bad starter.
its the Crankshaft Position Sensor or the Camshaft Position Sensor. its a common problem with the Jeep Cherokee. i Have have trouble starting my 91 in cold or if its sits over night.
but it turned out theres a loose connection in my shifter.
whenever i start mine i gotta hold in the button on the shifter and turn the key. weird issue lmao. idk if that helps but loose connections happen alot in these things lol
A bit late, but my guess is either the clutch safety switch, or the the transmission neutral start switch (if its an automatic) if its automatic, try shifting it from park to neutral, and see if the starter will engage. While trying to start the engine, try moving the shifter between park and neutral to see if it starts. if its manual, look under the dash, and check the clutch pedal for a switch. when you depress the clutch, make sure the switch is open all the way.
check your starter relay, if its good test your solenoid on starter, if the solenoids bad you found it....if not trace wiring from starter to battery, check all fuses and try again. had the same prob. on a 93 zj
