US aces are far surpassed by Russians, Romanians, Japanese, Finns, Brits, and of course, mostly German.
Gunther Rall, an ace with 275 air victories talks about low level flight and allied planes crashing chasing him in a dive, so it happens both ways obviously for the same reasons.

Seriously doubt that was planned.
but, if you look up and read the history of some of the FW-190 squads to the end of the war, when they were incredibly desperate on trained crew and fuel. one of the tactics was to use an A8-R2/8 and ram the bombers after expending their ammunition.
near the end of the war, fighter production in germany was actually at its peak, so it wasnt a supply issue of fighters.

There is some thing you guys wont understand - to be a bulgarian soldier. A bulgarian soldier will do any thing to finish his mission, even if that gets him killed. At Drava there were Bulgarian soldiers throwing them selfs under the Nazi tanks with granades, at Doiran we make the famous for our army Knife Attack vs British, French and Greek army's... and we win. US aces are far surpassed by Russians, Romanians, Japanese, Finns, Brits, and of course, mostly German.
Gunther Rall, an ace with 275 air victories talks about low level flight and allied planes crashing chasing him in a dive, so it happens both ways obviously for the same reasons.

Time in combat, type of aircraft, experience of opponent, etc. In truth there is just no real way for anyone to say " Our pilots were the best " with any veracity.

a single engine fighter is far cheaper to produce and far less costly in terms of manpower than a 4 engine heavy bomber with a crew of 10.

Especially when you are running low on each and the enemy has a seemingly unlimited supply. From the description of the event; first combat engagement, still firing on impact - it's pretty obvious this particular pilot screwed up. He just happened to take down a bomber. Seriously doubt that was planned.

but, if you look up and read the history of some of the FW-190 squads to the end of the war, when they were incredibly desperate on trained crew and fuel. one of the tactics was to use an A8-R2/8 and ram the bombers after expending their ammunition.
near the end of the war, fighter production in germany was actually at its peak, so it wasnt a supply issue of fighters.

Finland did better, than anyone could foresee. When other USSRs neighbour countries were conquered, Finland wasnt and kept its independence. 5 years of war and Finland kept its independence. That is a defencive victory!

Also In that war Simo Hayha (search it up on youtube) killed 704 russians himself, Becoming history's best sniper.. not to mention he survived getting shot and died in 2003 (when he was born in the beggining of the 20th century)
