There is nothing to be done about divorce on a legal level without violating civil rights. The only thing to be done about that is to make sure that people take marriage and having kids more seriously, and perhaps making abortions easier to get.
Aahhh. But as a defendant in a no-fault divorce, I did not ask the court to modify my parental rights and I did nothing to deserve losing this basic human right. Divorce ALREADY violates human rights. But the court CAN modify a divorce PLAINTIFF's parental rights in response to her request to be let out of the family.
I cannot defend or attack the courts. I simply say that there is no obvious solution to the divorce problem (and I do think that a 50% divorce rate is a problem). I veiw this problem as cultural rather than legal. I think that divorce should be legal, and accesable, but I also think that both parents should have acess to any children except in cases of abuse, drugs, or voluntary disconnect.
There's no complete soln to the divorce problem. But we aren't even trying. And, the prob. is cultural AND legal, in the same way the racial demographic in prison is both culture (high crime in poor urban areas) and legal (racial bias in sentencing). Yes, people should be able to divorce if they really want out. But absent fault, they should know that they're LEAVING a family, not FORCING OUT another devoted parent. Our courts do not protect the rights of no-fault defendants, and they should.
Things are getting a bit "better" because there are millions of refugees gone from a country that was small to start with, and the Shia have gone to the south, the Kurds to the north, and the Sunnis are inbetween. Iraq is now three countries, and this is just the lull before those three go to war. The common ground for all three is that they want us gone, so what to you think they will do first? I respect both candidates, but I don't see how that ticket would really make sense. Their views of the role of government (social welfare, etc.) are quite different.
That said, I'll be very excited when either of them start polling in the double digits consistently.

If you want to vote in your primary/caucus, you have to register as a democrat if you want to vote democratic (I.E. Dennis Kucninch) or republican if you want to vote republican. You'll have to wait until your 18 to register (which will hopefully be right before your state's primary/caucus), then you can vote.
If you register as an independent, you will NOT be able to vote for a candidate, so it's important you choose a party (in your case it sounds as if you would want to go democratic). I think for the most part anyone in any state can register at their nearest court-house/some schools (like I did at a college), but I'm not certain. You might have to do a little inspecting... Hope all that helps!

There is nothing to be done about divorce on a legal level without violating civil rights. The only thing to be done about that is to make sure that people take marriage and having kids more seriously, and perhaps making abortions easier to get.

Aahhh. But as a defendant in a no-fault divorce, I did not ask the court to modify my parental rights and I did nothing to deserve losing this basic human right. Divorce ALREADY violates human rights. But the court CAN modify a divorce PLAINTIFF's parental rights in response to her request to be let out of the family.

I cannot defend or attack the courts. I simply say that there is no obvious solution to the divorce problem (and I do think that a 50% divorce rate is a problem). I veiw this problem as cultural rather than legal. I think that divorce should be legal, and accesable, but I also think that both parents should have acess to any children except in cases of abuse, drugs, or voluntary disconnect.

There's no complete soln to the divorce problem. But we aren't even trying. And, the prob. is cultural AND legal, in the same way the racial demographic in prison is both culture (high crime in poor urban areas) and legal (racial bias in sentencing). Yes, people should be able to divorce if they really want out. But absent fault, they should know that they're LEAVING a family, not FORCING OUT another devoted parent. Our courts do not protect the rights of no-fault defendants, and they should.

Things are getting a bit "better" because there are millions of refugees gone from a country that was small to start with, and the Shia have gone to the south, the Kurds to the north, and the Sunnis are inbetween. Iraq is now three countries, and this is just the lull before those three go to war. The common ground for all three is that they want us gone, so what to you think they will do first? Ocuppations ALWAYS fail. People just don't like foreign armies. The founding fathers sure didn't.

I respect both candidates, but I don't see how that ticket would really make sense. Their views of the role of government (social welfare, etc.) are quite different.
That said, I'll be very excited when either of them start polling in the double digits consistently.

If you want to vote in your primary/caucus, you have to register as a democrat if you want to vote democratic (I.E. Dennis Kucninch) or republican if you want to vote republican. You'll have to wait until your 18 to register (which will hopefully be right before your state's primary/caucus), then you can vote.

In California you can register as "Decline to State" political party and still request the Democratic party ballot in the primaries.

If you register as an independent, you will NOT be able to vote for a candidate, so it's important you choose a party (in your case it sounds as if you would want to go democratic). I think for the most part anyone in any state can register at their nearest court-house/some schools (like I did at a college), but I'm not certain. You might have to do a little inspecting... Kucinich voted against giving Bush authority to invade Iraq in 2002! He also voted against NAFTA, the Patriot Act, and is against the war on drugs.

Well, actually, you should really read Kucinich's plan for pulling out of Iraq. He has carefully considered the consequences and will work closely with the surrounding countries (who understand their region best) to prevent terrorist insurgencies and ensure stability. sorry about all the type'os I get so worked up. My congressman Ken Calvert supports the "Patriot Act". I don't and we have been at war for so long I don't remember why. We already hung one bad leader which they should have done for themselves. I am a disabilities Advocate non-profit. People should take the time to join the democratic party and vote for Kucinich. And if the party's establishment railroads a chickenhawk 'warmonger light' as an alternative to the Reps Nutcase Warmonger-of-the-month, people need to urge Kucinich to run as independant (maybe with Jesse Ventura) and hope to go it does not split the vote to give another republican warmonger the victory.
Ventura would be a great asset cause he has presence, and might appeal to some moderate right-wing voters

Dennis is promoting the peaceful ideals of America, and trying to show other countries that the majority of Americans are not represented fairly by President Bush. Kucinich did what other candidates merely promised. I think that this media outrage against Dennis Kucinich is the work of his opponents campaign dollars at work. What makes him and yourself unique are not the characteristics that you use to define yourself, but the collective experiences in which you both undergo through life.
