In comp, you have to add weight per cubic inch geniouses, so that means a 500 in. pro stock engine combination will have to weigh in around 2400lbs, where the 287 in. sbc can run in the 1700lb. car.
Obviously, some people aren't familiar with the Comp Eliminator rule book ;-). Sweet motor guys.
The sportsman class racers have my utmost respect. A good friend of mine runs a SS/IA Camaro in the 9.80's. Thats 3250 lbs (?) with a small block and a Quadrajet! Anyone can bolt together a 500ci+ BBC and go fast. Do it with restrictions on weight and cubic inches and it's a little harder to do.

YEA WITH $20,000 Gs YOU CAN HAVE THIS. A BIG BLOCK DONT HAVE TO TURN THAT HIGH AND IT WILL RUN THIS GOOD AT A WALLET FRENDLY 8 TO $10,000 AND i KNOW PLENTY OF BIG BLOCK GUYS OUT THERE MAKING 750, 800 HORSEPOWER THAT HAVE RAN THERES 5 TO TEN YEARS AT A MERE 6500 RPM THE COST IS CUT IN HALF YOU DONT NEED THIS.
You only need this in NHRA class racing. The engine is made for one purpose - go as fast as possible with a 282" motor on gasoline with wedge heads and 2 carbs.
@yee11111 that's true but you completely missed the point. How would your big block friends like to get spanked by a 282? It would happen because this thing moves air at that speed. Some love the sound of a small engine at full wail. Okay, so you have to watch the valve train to keep it together. It's a race engine.
you can but why do that and have to rebuild the motor every 20 passes compared to big block you can go just as fast and go a full season or more out of the motor
Let this be a lesson that you CAN make make horsepower with a small block without artificial horsepower additivies! (nitrous, superchargers, turbochargers, etc.)

shoot, more like 50,000-60,000 dollars. i'm not sure exactly how much, you'd have to look up Patterson racing engines, or Jeff Taylor Performance

because alot of classes regulate engine size and how they're built. this engine is mechanical sex.. just like the comp eliminator 307 dyno on here
