I find it interesting how each of the first three major villains of season 1 returned in some form. Myotismon became MaloMyotismon, Etemon became MetalEtemon, and Devimon sort of returned as a part of Kimeramon. The only ones missing are Apocalymon and one or more of the Dark Masters, unless you count Machinedramon fusing with Kimeramon to become Millenniummon, who Ken fights in one of the WonderSwan games.
