  • ROGER WILL LIVE FOREVER THROUGH HIS MUSICAL LEGACY.

I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU

    RIP ROGER

  • TIMELESS...................

  • I have this remix on a rare 12" single that i bought from the uk.

  • Have never seen this video...let alone heard of it before. Should show more of it on Bet old school hour at least.......Roger's one of a kind.

  • I have to say that I love this song.

  • Man............I love that spin that Greg Jackson does in the beginning of the video.

    I gotta learn it.

  • lol he walkin to coo he was bad lol weak

  • who ever he is kissing in this video...im mighty jealous.....and im only 21..... I wasnt even born then... so sad...

  • Roger is looking fucking SHARP.

  • The genius of Roger is unreal.

  • anybody where to get this version on mp3?

  • i remember the day we shot this video! It was at unversal studios and the concert was zapp, cherell, ready for the world and the force md's..thats me at the backstage door...ahhhh the good ol days!

  • This is a nod to Prince ... no doubt about it! The stop start breaks are from Sexy dancer. The guitar riff is classic Prince and the guitar solo is the same style and sound of D.M.S.R. I think is a nice tribute to the Minneapolis sound. Nothing wrong with that.

  • To all you Prince fiends Roger credits Prince on the album credits that he nipped a bit from the Minneapolis Sound for itchin happy now go away you Prince fans are worse than MJ's with your need you credit

  • this sound reminds me of morris day and the time type of style. or am i wrong?

  • @StrangirTvJams actually i can kinda hear that

  • I love Roger but I have to admit this was not his best track.

  • Pimp Walk @1:57-2:04.

    Rise In Peace Beloved.

    One Love ^_^

  • Turbo and Ozone

  • Yup, pretty sad these "artists" today couldn't even point out the names of the notes on a keyboard.... why do you think the music never reaches past a "1-finger-on-an-mpc" level of skill? 20 years of cutting music education + music industry corruption = crap

  • This was music, I had all these songs on cassette. Now I cant play them anymore. Too bad most of his songs cant be found on you tube.

  • for some reason the album version doesn't incorporated the talkbox, that's sad.

  • Roger know he was fine....Damn....This song reminds me of a guy that used to always sing that song to me

  • 0.45-1.05 is just perfect

  • RIP you were the best roger

  • this sounds like Prince could have produced it.

  • @mrcheereo: not at all..

  • @EXTENDED91 shit...I'm a big prince fan. this song has his type of sound.

  • @mrcheereo: the first record i ever got to hold in my hand, was a prince record.. i listen to prince since i was 2 years old.. this is an arrangement and composition that just doesn't sound like prince.. it's just not prince..

  • @EXTENDED91 Obviously u've never heard sexy dancer by prince because its obviouse that Zapp Kinda ripped it off. If u havent heard the song then there's no need for u even to comment back. Read the other comment people posted. I know what I'm talkin bout

  • @mrcheereo a lot of people are ignorant of the truth or have ears made out of wood. don't worry about it. this song is a blatant Prince ripoff

  • @mrcheereo: first, u can't tell me not, when or how to comment.. 2nd, of course I know Sexy Dancer.. and I know a lot of other tracks and demos u probably never heard of (like the mazarati tracks on my page which nobody else had uploaded on here before).. third, this just doesn't sound like a prince PRODUCTION.. this may sound LIKE prince but it doesn't sound like prince COULD HAVE PRODUCED IT.. fourth, I've read the other people's comments but this is MY opinion..

  • GODDAMN what a FUNKY ASS TRACK!!!!!!!

  • the girl looks like Robin Power

  • jij komt er zéker voor in aanmerking

  • can i have this version to? (mail me)

  • you all know prince did this song with him don't ya?

  • Comment removed

  • Damn, I want what Roger's wearing!

  • shirley murdock looks so sexy here. zapp rules. rip rog we miss you.

  • I have this on mp3 now let know if you want it

  • yeah i converted it and got in on mp3 too. Haha and youtube gets mad when people put up music. I'd BUY the music if I could find it!!!

  • yes send it to me

  • send me your email

  • Did you convert the sound from the youtube video, or do you have a higher quality version? I've been searching for this track, but I can only find the album version, which doesn't compare to this!!!

  • i have this version

  • hey i was wonderin if i can have it. check my channel and you'll understand xp peace

  • DAMM HE GETS DOWN WITH THE GITAR 2!!!!

  • That's is the real music! I MISS ROGER TROUTMAN!

I LOVE THAT BEAT! It's reminds me Prince...

  • Yo anyone know if this version is on recording somewhere? Zapp IV's version is nowhere near this...

  • im working on finding it but i know it possible to convert the video into a mp3

  • yeah that's actually what I ended up doing haha. I had to have it!

  • where can i buy all there albums and cd's

  • A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

  • Obviously Roger was listening to Prince around this time, those two shouldve collaborated!!

  • i heard dat

  • LOVE IT YUP:)!!!!!!!!!!

  • Warner Brothers......man, what else do they want? Aren't they big enough? They blatantly ripped off Frank Zappa, too. Bloodsucking leeches. What do they really want.......Back to Roger and Zapp. They were the last of the real deal.

  • i want yor body

    LMAO

  • Warner Music Group owns Zapp and Roger Troutman and in case you haven't heard the news, these Warner faggots are demanding that all their artists' videos and music to be taken down from this site. They already deleted my clip that has the Soul Train dancers dancing to "Doo Wa Ditty" .....those selfish and greedy bastards!

  • no wonder prince sued youtube. . . . . . stupid muthaph. . . kers!!!

  • @Azone01 thank you for understanding. they keep blocking prince, who was like the greatest artist off the 20th century/

  • @Azone01 u got doo wa ditty on the soultrain!!??? whoaaa i'd really wanna see it!!

  • Let's see T- Lame and Rhianna Fuck with that, they couldn't get that funky in their dreams. Zapp forever and Roger R.I.P people are just starting to realize the "Dayton Sound" was even more influential on the music of today.

  • @newsoul I agree sooooo..... tired of this new try-wanna-be-funk- & soul and can't reach a inch of the creativity of those old school artists ... where that individuality at? and where is that Funk or we're are just buying a pre packages of chicks-nails and short skirts that can only shake that booty and try to get into ya blood... Please...

  • @newsoul

    Got that right brotha!

  • @newsoul that's cause T-Pain and Rihanna use autotune, not a talk box

  • I guess nobody sees Shirley Murdock but me. (background singer) Dayton Ohio sure did produce some outstanding bands. Can anyone name any?

  • b0y i itch..i itch f0r ur twitch!

    b0y, i itch f0r ur l0ve!

    lol.. LOVE IT!

  • WOOF!!

  • sounds like he was chasin that minn sound, good to see ray rip

  • more like the minny soul sound chased Roger. but all due respect to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for hypin dat shit up....good shit.

  • hey dat girl he kissed wasn't she in dat prince film Graffiti Bridge she was in the Morris day crew. and i LOVE this vid

  • Dang... it has that vibe like "Sexy Dancer" by Prince. Damn, Roger still IS the bomb

  • record companies always ruine the funk by trying to make people follow whats hot its just the money to them...even thoe roger was roger prince was makin too much money for them

  • I think warners told Roger to update his sound because of what Prince was doing. thats why Roger went to all digital recording in 1985. Roger obviously ripped off Sexy Dancer but that came out 6 years before this.

  • @PhuckHue2 thank u. People seem to think I'm carzy for making the comparison.

  • Super Funky !!! / From a forever zapp fan in Nashville,Tennessee.

  • wanna talk shit about americans

    finna get dropped

  • shut up

  • Hes right you know! People acting mexican and some mexicans thinking theyre not white is even more pathetic!

  • protizmenos, Mexicans arent white. In Mexico their are white Mexicans because there full Spanish with no indegenous half. but theyre not Caucasian. and its estimated about 12 percent of Mexico is like that. thats really small amount. some Mexicans may be lite skinned, but their not white you can clearly see in the way their physical appearance and face is, that they arent even if they are lite skinned.

  • 4 those that may not know in the 80's Mr. Troutman and the Zapp Band Toured with The Purple 1 . That may be Rog's way of saying thanks.

  • You got a point... The bass lines have a liitle snippet of the song "Sexy Dancer" prince did in 1979.

  • orale firme rola

  • damn, this version destroys the album version. sooo funky, so good!

  • Classic song! Too bad the version of this song isnt on the original album it was released on!

  • SUPER!!!!!!!

  • This sounds like a vocal homage to Prince's "Sexy Dancer".

Both P. & Zapp have they're own styles but I'd treat this as just a nod, not a copy.

  • Sadly The music industry has lost the artistry it once had;such as Zapp,Prince,NWA,metallica. Now we have comercialized studio produced idols who reflect the corporate greed the represent. Thank you Zapp!even if this song sounds like prince it sounds wonderful.

  • I would say that Roger put his own mix into this video so it would somewhat alter from the album version of this song. As far as that goes, It sure sounded like Prince almost all the way. Also note the Album Version made reference to one of Prince's Song "Irresistible b**ch".

  • zapp was a round way before prince.Shirley Murdock was on same label.

  • Statistically , i think both Zapp & Prince starting to enter the music-scene around the same era , the mid-70's .

Roger had his band The Human Body with whom he released a rare album on his own Troutman Bros.-label.

Prince recorded in his pre-solo days with the band Minneapolis Genius 94-East.

  • Roger actually mentions :"Thank you Prince..." in the Zapp-track "It Doesn't Really Matter" , so he is not "obviously" imitating Prince , but paying him a sorta tribute and by adding his own style-switch to the arrangements.

  • great song but he's obviously imitating Prince, thats Shirley Murdock behind him

  • Anyone have this version as Mp3? B-b-bad ass song.

  • roger CREATED a unique style. this is the man who puts the "fun" into "funk" right here

  • I wish there were a full length video of More Bounce To The Ounce...

  • hell naw roger's different

  • I agree Roger has a unique style...

  • Sounds like Prince.
