Most of the "The world ends in 2012" is just assumption. The Mayan calendar ends on the Winter solstace of 2012, that is true. However, a lot of the TV specials on the topic are so ill-learned that they say it's the -Aztec- calender that says all this, so I can't take them too seriously. although it is an interesting plot for a movie, everyone has to understand that.... well mayans predicted this. The same people that sacrificed humans and tore out there hearts to make the sun rise every day so dont take theyre word for it. This movie just raises paranoia. And I seriously doubt that water levels would rise so high they would make islands out of the the himalayas.

You clearly don't know much about the Mayans. Mayan descendants are still around today. 90% of the indigenous peoples of North/South America were killed by European diseases that they had absolutely no immunity to.
A common theory as to why the Mayans disappeared is natural disaster: another thing they were not responsible for.
They may have committed human sacrifices, but any educated person knows the Mayans were incredibly advanced. Hence the calendar that is accurate after 1000+ years.

The Maya never *ever* claimed that the end of the calendar meant the end of the world. That "decision" was made by ignoramuses who had no idea what they're talking about and it was made by Hollywood to romanticize it. The end of the Mayan calendar as we know it is based on mathematics. They couldn't predict the end of their civilization because there is no math in that. They predicted solar and lunar eclipses to within 3 seconds or so, that are accurate today.

I don't believe you really know what you're talking about, however, because you seem to have the idea in your head that the Maya were these stupid people. They may have performed human sacrifices, but they to this day remain one of the most advanced civilizations to have ever existed on this earth.

It's false. If a planet as big as they described Nibiru to be would come very close to Earth in 3 years, we would see it by now.
Or else the planet would go at such a huge speed that it couldn't be that big.
The whole 2012 thing is a strange blow-up story of a normal Maya-tradition. 2012 would be the reset of their calendar, not the whole world.

Most of the "The world ends in 2012" is just assumption. The Mayan calendar ends on the Winter solstace of 2012, that is true. However, a lot of the TV specials on the topic are so ill-learned that they say it's the -Aztec- calender that says all this, so I can't take them too seriously. Honestly, the Mayan prophecies are mostly astronomy events, like alignments and eclipses, and these are all very accurate. If anything happens, it'll be some allignment, and we'll all go on our marry ways.

Our first probes are well past Pluto by now. We also sent a probe recently that's supposed to get to Pluto about 9 years after launch. You're right that it doesn't take 50 years; it takes much less.
