  • This masters family created geniuses that change the history of art and music in India; whether it is, Uday Shankar, Ravi Shankar, Mamta Shankar, Anoushka Shankar or Norah Jones. All these people left a mark in the world's page of culture and arts. Hats-off Gurus. I dearly love and respect you all.

  • This is so beautiful! I want to go to India after hearing this!

  • great!

  • this is what happens when you give joe satriani a sitar

  • well his duaghter is hoooootttt (Nora )!!

  • Jimi Hendrix India XD

  • Wow! Amazing Khamaj!!

  • I was lost myself , I love it

  • Yes, he would have been around that age.

    Nick

  • when was was this filmed? Ravi looks like he's in his late 70's-mid 80's?

  • The sitar produces so much more a melodious sound than a say a guitar!

  • @RanjitMorey its wrong to say so.i am an indian who plays guitar. all my life i hv heard ravi shankarAlso i hav heard most of the famous guitarists of the world and am familiar to both western and eastern music and even more .its common for a person to say sitar is more melodious when he hasn't heard a lot of guitar.and same goes for a person who says so about guitar when he has heard a sitar all his life.it only depends on music and the player that you develop a liking for a instrument

  • @jack453674 Forgive me for saying melodious. I should've said pure/spiritual instead. Surely you'd agree on that?

  • @RanjitMorey spiritual seems the right word.so much of our indian music is about spirutuality and worship.i would suggest you to hear some spanish flamenco guitar music.search for PACO DE LUCIA on youtube.maybe you'll like it.if u like it then reply me.i don't know if you'll like that kind of music but i m just suggesting u to give it a try

  • @jack453674 I watched this /watch?v=RYkz30RL_GU He's very good indeed. But there is not the sense of...goodness in the way the guitar strings sound. I listen to worse music than Paco, believe me. I fraternize with pop and electro-dance, but I believe there is nothing like coming back to Hindustani classical music. They have raags for all times of the day and for every mood! Of course, I may be called, and probably am, biased to this tradition because I'm Indian, but I can't help it!

  • @RanjitMorey thats fine.music is after all about personel taste.but the choice of paco song wasn't great.give this a try /watch?v=ElVtge2Q6D8&feature=related .also this is great. /watch?v=jxodluTaz4g&feature=related i know i am bothering you a lot but thats what is great about youtube. if u hear them then let me know

  • @RanjitMorey yea and you know why? it has more strings :) checkout wiki

    Namaste

  • Anoshkkaa is looking real indian beauty, unlike she is today....\

    this is Raag Des

  • we can hardly listen the tabla

  • Hi, what's the name of this raaga, because every time I listen to Pandit Ji perform, it seems to me that he is playing the same tune. I rarely hear Pandit Ji perform darbari, or something in that range. He used to perform Kirwani, but I think he got bored with Kirwani also. Or maybe poor Pandit Ji is forced to play raagas that his daughter understands, since she's so young.

  • @mjmbrumi Since its Independence Day celebration..its safe to assume the Raga is Des Raaga

  • Great! Thank's for posting it! Kieran

  • The Master ruled this world
