For anyone wishing to catch up with Ivan Drever and Andy Murray, they have got back together to form a new band. The IVAN DREVER BAND hit the road in the Highlands next month. Watch this space!
This is the line-up that is Wolfstone to me. "Hector", as played here, never fails to make me tear up, and will be played at my funeral. God bless 'em (but I do miss Ivan...)
Me too. Ever since I first heard the album version (1991, I believe) I have known I want it played at my funeral. It is my absolute favourite tune and I have never heard a version to rival this one.
I agree completely. First time I saw Wolfstone was in Princes St Gardens in Edinburgh, The Chase wasn't long out & around 4000 of a crowd jigged themselves to a standstill. I've seen many big rock bands at their peak & they would have been taught lessons by Wolfstone of that era.
Recently saw Ivan & Duncan in Melrose Village Hall (400 mile round trip ;-) & they invoke fantastic memories.
Absolutely awesome piece of music - I defy anyone listening to this not to be moved. It would make a brilliant Scottish National Anthem given words. It tugs at those bits that matter. Beautifully played here too!
It's wonderful to see the progression of what is thought to be traditional music and to see it embraced so well by its culture. Perhaps never so well embraced then by the Celts and the Gaels, thanks for the post.
It's funny. I played in a band that opened for Wolfstone at The Palms in Davis, CA; probably circa 1992. Their music is still great. I've payed bagpipes my whole life and still love their rendition of this most beautiful piece!
Don't care what anyone else says; stuff Flower of Scotland, stuff Scotland the Brave, stuff Highland Cathedral; this would be a tune (or a song, if it had words) that I would more than happily belt out at the start of any international sporting match. Even if it didn't have words I'd just belt it out anyway, but just scat it.
I'm not a fan of maudlin Scots sentimentality in music but this version of this song always makes me greet like a big wean. It's beautiful, it's also powerful and moving and just bloomin wonderful. *sniff*
This is the original group, including Ivan Drever at the acoustic guitar...What a pity they had to split because Wolfstone produced their best albums in the nineties !! Phalaina
@RwBguardian This is the third part of three. Look up this title, and 1/2 instead of 3.

Ain't Wolfstone without Ivan! Now they're just a funk band with no energy . . . .
