I went through them once. Where they stuck the needle was swollen for couple of days. I was afraid. I would not recommend going through them get it done at a hospital.

Hey, I'm a volunteer with Canadian Blood Services and a 9 time (going on 10 in a week or two) donor. Good for you, it takes a lot of courage to go and do it. I'm glad your going to be going back too. One of the toughest challenges for CBS is getting return donors after the 1st time. Good on ya. Blood. It's In You To Give.

I gave blood yesterday. The red cross came to my school and anyone who had gotten their parents permission a week prior could give blood. A blood buddy would come get you from class and take you down to the gym where they were doing it.

Ive been donating for years and they recently started giving gas cards to donors on certain days, usually on a holiday weekend. The gas money is a nice perk but I think people shouldn't need an incentive to do something so selfless.

Ok... I won't argue. But just so you know, people that give blood and or plasma can't donate if they are pregnant. I was screened and given a long, long list of questions before I was allowed to donate blood and that was one of the questions that would have prevented me from donating so...

Thanks for donating! Yeah we definitely need more people like you out there who are willing to share their good health with those who are less fortunate. And yeah it really isn't that bad! You barely feel it, and it's a small price to pay for helping to save someone's life.

And warriorprince1010, I'm not sure exactly what you were saying, but were you saying it's not healthy to give blood? I think the studies show that donating actually has huge health benefits, like lowering high iron levels.
