  • Holy crap that's a nice bike

  • Sand + lubricated chain = do not mix

  • @cobrachoppergirl One might well ask about the chains and sprockets on the Harleys. These held up well because they were left dry (without oil or grease) when riding in sand and they were made of rougher steel.

  • @harleywl45 where'd you get it?

  • @Vlaxerman343 it was found in South Africa and shipped from Durban

  • @harleywl45 yikes it must have cost you a fortune to buy it

  • something very simple and beautiful about these machines.. great video

  • awesome machine good bless the people ho ride this on the past!

  • Not many of the men that rode these are still living .We lose so many every day. They are called Americas Greatiest Generation .Thanks for posting such a Great Motorcycle. A great part of WW2 History.

  • what dose this have to do with the south african nation?

  • @darian2777 google; HARLEYS IN KHAKI and you will understand!

  • @darian2777

  • @darian2777 Fuck'n idiot lol. Miss history class?

  • Amazing machine. The sound of that idle is the sound of dreams.

  • I've got an original 100 CC 1 cilinder NSU somewhere around here.

It's taken apart and stashed away in the attic. I want to reassemble it, but I have to do it with my dad 'cause I don't know enough about these things to do it alone, but he just doesn't have the time...

  • @cobrachoppergirl /the Harleys withstood sustained abuse well in comparison to Italian Gileras and Moto-Guzzis, German BMW’s (which had insufficient power and were too highly geared) and the British Nortons, BSA’s, AM’s and Matchlesses (which were unreliable and often gave chain and sprocket trouble). One might well ask about the chains and sprockets on the Harleys. These held up well because they were left dry (without oil or grease) when riding in sand and they were made of rougher steel

  • 45s idle like a cat shitting razor blades but they're great!

  • WOW!!! What a great bike!!!

My granddad had a Harley Liberator. (from the Canadian army)

He bought it after the war ended and the troops went home.

What a bike!!! Sadly it went up in flames when his workplace burned down

  • Damn ... this reminds me of my 1942 1012 (only 600 made) which was dug out of the desert after WWII and I bought for R100.00 from a mate in Pietermaritzburg.

It was later stolen in Joburg ... grrrrrr ...

My, but what a bike that was and how much fun and near death it caused me ...

    Memories ... sigh ...
