hey, he did add up the score wrong. when passing out the tests he said that the first 5 questions were worth 9 each which adds up to 45, the second 5 were worth 8 each which adds up to 40 and the last 5 were worth 3 each which adds up the 15.

When talking to Hilda, he says that the first 5 were worth 40, the second 5 were worth 45 and the last 5 were worth 15.
