  • Ok, I'm at a loss..

Got an SB X-fi 5.1 surround pro + Tritton Ax Pro currently

X-fi connected to pc via usb, decoder box connected to x-fi via optical. No DDL light on the decoder box.

Tried to switch the DDL, but I dont have that tab anywhere.. I do get sound, just not the freakin 5.1

    Any Ideas?

  • I have the tritton AX Pro v1.5 (with the new decoder box design) and i have plugged my headset into the analog ports on my stock realtek soundcard, but I dont think i got it properly set up. When I play skyrim I barely hear the rear speakers(by means of not hearing NPC's talk when I turn my back on them), while they are connected in the soundcard :/

  • @jvpernis1 I'm afraid I can't be of much help. For one, I've checked the Tritton website and I don't see anything about a v1.5 model. I'd call/email Tritton for support in your situation. About the only thing I can suggest is, if your decoder box and PC have optical ports, try using them. It's what I use.

  • Love the video, but on my end your voice was a bit low. Is that just me or anyone else getting that problem?

  • Hey man nice tutorial. I just got the black ops trittons. They are just rebrands of the ax pros. I was just wondering, how do you use the mic when using the optical cable with the sound card? As I see in your vid, console only headsets can work with the pc. I am just unclear as to how the mic is connected. Thank you in advance.

The mic is connected by USB. You plug in the headset into the decoder box, and then USB cable from there to your computer. It comes up as C-Media USB Device.

  • AX 51 pro is PC only so I don't have the decoder box and I connect all the colored analog speaker connectors directly to the sound card instead of the decoder box like in the case of AX Pro. Check the contents of the box and you will see a D-Sub to analog connector which you should use for PC. The decoder is meant for XBOX and PS3 which does not have a inbuilt decoder and they only provide optical out. Hope this helps.

  • @upraveenk my headset is the console version, check out tritton's website. I didn't get analog connectors with mine. The analog ports on the decoder box are OUT ports, so I could go optical cable from sound card/console to box, and then connect a 5.1 3.5mm speaker set. In fact, truth to tell, I didn't know about your version, although I prefer mine, because it works with consoles and PC.

  • I have the AX 51 pro and the Fatal1ty pro sound card and I have connected the speaker connectors directly to the sound card which means the decoding is done by the sound card. If you have a high spec decoder in the sound card why do you have to use another decoder provided by Triton which should be inferior in quality compared to Creative ? Did you ever try to by pass the decoder box and connecting the headphones directly to the sound card ? I'm pretty sure you see a lot of difference.

  • @upraveenk explain to me how you connected the headset to the sound card directly please. That's why I'm using the decoder box. The sound card has 5.1 analog, and optical out ports, it doesn't have the D-Sub connector that the headset uses to connect to the Tritton box.
