  • How is it Fatal?...Not much damage done and No-one Got killed!:D

  • I think he was confused the plane coming at him.

  • I've never seen a more beautiful snap roll on takeoff!!! Masterfully done. To bad about the plane......could have used a better pilot.

  • it's not exactly fatal is it! i mean, no-one got killed!

  • Save some time and go to @3:30

  • Better to lose a plane than your fingers... maybe wait for better conditions and a safe place for your tx. :P

  • um it seems like you shouldn't be flying a plane like that sir

  • Epic Nerd!

  • fail

  • what a dick...why fly in those conditions???.....patience is a virtue lol...

  • This plane was doomed from the start!

  • Ive flown a lot of war birds in 30yrs. But that AT-6 is something else !! In this video you can hear the wind in the mic is strong. Looks like the wind got under the left wing and blew the plane over, and maybe with a torque roll...uh ?

  • Did he died?

  • @WelderCSR Nooooo, he livid....... :p

  • SKIP TILL 3 MINUTES REST IS BULLSHIT !!

  • @fastestcararound Took the words from my typing fingers! So many plane vid posters seem to thing it's fascinating to watch somebody start and adjust and futz with his plane for minute after minute, all for the sake of a 10 second climax.

  • damit spectrum!

  • Painful to watch, but not as painful as seeing you risk your limbs near that propeller several times! Jeez - ever hear of 'Safety First'?!!

  • A couple things...I didn't see a range check of any type. Maybe it was done before filming.

I also went frame by frame on this, and it looks like it may have been yanked up a tad too early. The TO is at about 45 degrees..... Good effort. THese things are tricky machines. They were designed to mimic a fighter plane in flight characteristics, and a lot of people forget that because they look so sedate.

  • sorry for your loss; very fixable though. I think the airplane was very tailheavy. Did you CG it? I was watching the tail which didn't fly for a long time after power applied. The airplane will be a great flyer when balanced out. Good luck.

  • I had a video called Texas Pylon Racing. I was amazed how guys that raced these things had such a tough time landing them and taking them off. I have a Great Planes AT-6 and it is a handful. They sure look great, but they look horrible to land and take off. In the video the guy that one first place in a heat smashed into a pylon or something on the runway. Who puts that kind of crap on a runway where guys are racing. Sorry to see your crash, but those planes are a handful for all.

  • I've got a Kyosho AT-6 with an OS61 in it. I git my teeth every time I fly it. It just does not inspire confidence. One day I'll have to "build" a real AT-6 as I just love 'em.

  • My comments without reading all of the other posts. 1st to the asshole about electrics. Hopefully you will have one of your lipos burn your garage down. 2nd. I have noticed more and more people in this hobby wouldn't know a piece of balsa or aircraft ply if some one beat them over the head with it. Observation on the AT- 6 If all the controls were zero zero then my conclusion is lateral balance as well as being tail heavy

  • 95% of the comments are complete bullshit. Everything involved in a crash happens in micro-seconds. Acting like you noticed an aileron or elevator issue makes you look like complete assholes. He built a plane and attempted to fly it. 99.9% can't pee without hitting the toilet seat. He's great because he tried, crashed and still posted this video.. Most of you pussies have never built a single fuc#ing thing in your life.

  • Fake radial turning in cowl doesn't lend itself to confidence in builder's skill either

  • @southernadvantage Show me something you built and flew. Chump

  • @southernadvantage Being good at building a perfectly safe flying machine and being able to add attention to detail are two totally different build skills. Not everyone can do both. Pretty poor comment from you :(

  • maiden fail

  • Aaargh, standing quite close in front of the prop may be extremely painful! ;-)

Locks don't always do their job as well as we expect them to! ^^

  • oooOOOOps.

  • Tragic! Did you repair and try again?

  • What toolbox do you have there ?? I have been looking for one just like that !

  • ailerons were reversed?

  • @straighttailpilot Yup, sure looks like it.

  • @straighttailpilot Definitely reversed ailerons. you can see him make a minor adjustment to correct but then because it didnt he went more and rolled it. I know this from experience... wrecked my 31in yak on its maiden due to reversed ailerons thankfully though with it being so light, no damage occured.

  • Just read all the comments and I notice a clear pattern. The ones who give proper possible reasons are all flyer's, BUT the ones who just take the Piss are just ass holes who have never even tried to fly and therefor do not know what they are talking about. Question Did you fly it again?

  • To me it looked as if !, your Ailerons were the wrong way around. 2. with the incorrect ailerons plus a torch roll from the powerful engine. 3 Did not hold the rudder in for long enough.

Get all those points sorted out and it will fly nice.

  • I know that we learn from our mistakes in life.. but there are some things that you should not put on You Tube!

But thanks for posting I had the entire computer room look at me when I busted out laughing!! EPIC FAIL

  • nice plane but a little tail heavy maybe?

  • HAHAHAHAHA THAT WAS FUNNY,,,FAIL

  • when your were starting your engine, I noticed the wind sock was in the right direction for take off at that time, did the wind switch prior to take off?

  • Comment removed

  • Fatal lol only couple of scrapes.

  • should have stayed home by the fire...

  • SHOULDA STAYED HOME BY THE FIRE ) :

  • Sorry about your wings. It held promise :-)

  • Looks like the ailerons may have been reversed. Take off looked good just kept rolling to the right like the ailerons were reversed.

  • @techserv1028 I agree with you. Either his ailerons were reversed or maybe one of the servos had a bad connection. If the ailerons were the problem.

  • obviously that guy doesn't know shit about flying

  • the engine does not sound good

  • If only we could for see every problem before a maiden and correct it then planes would not crash. But this will never be the case. One will never know on maidens the character of the plane, its only when they break ground when you see ground checks, craftsmanship and piloting. These things will never stop happening so don't feel bad, it happens to everyone in this hobby.

  • sorry about your plane. looks like the rudder was pushed over to the right along with the aileron.i would bet there was a cross wind from behind you.

sounded like alot of wind in your video to.tame down those control throws next time. build a easy tail dragger to practice with also. wait for the right wind conditions then head for the sky and not the ground

  • why do you think electic will solve all?bet you fly foam am i right you know i am.

  • Simply put the the electric comment, you suck................

  • Sorry to see this happen. I hope you're able to rebuild and better flight next time.

NOTE TO SELF: Lots torque on tail dragger when lifting off. On maiden flights... Get plenty of ground speed and let it lift by it's self w/o snapping it up before trimmed and familiar.

  • Electric STINKS

  • Flight pal,

i must be mistaken but b4 u took off maybe you did no tcontrolled all servos if they were functioning well b4 take off.. Ive seen a lot of these crashes and 80% of the reason is that,, Sorry for the plane it look antique but i love these kind of planes thou..

  • thumbs up if you like the part where it crashed!

  • Were you guys drunk? Sure looked like it...

  • 3:53 oh very nice project

  • Ailerons reversed

  • beautifull plane...Who was manufacturer?

  • Looked like the ailerons might hve been reversed? Seen it before...

  • i want 4:03 minutes of my life back

  • ha-haa Now that was funny!! Before anyone gets on my case. Anyone that gets into any type of rc's they know it's money they will never see again. Trust I know all too well.

  • 3D flying is great lol

  • I'd say: CHOKE !

Pilot got startled at the moment the plane was coming towards him at full speed, he pulls up, kills the air flow and tumble/rolls to Chokeville USA. We've all been there once or twice.... or 3 or 4 times.....

  • Thanks to the pilot of the plane for having the stones for allowing this video to be posted. It is very educational to learn from other people's unfortunate accidents. I agree with the snap roll conclusion. Man that thing sounded sweet taxiing out for takeoff. Looked great too. Doesn't look that bad for fixing. There's work to do, but it isn't done by any means.

  • But will it blend?

  • @adampope64 Ok not to sound like a Etard but WTF does that mean i see someone post it every single hour somewhere..is it the new trendy thing to repeat endlessly to fit in with etards or does it have any relevant meaning at all..which i doubt by the way..do you even know what it means or are you just jumping on the ETard bandwagon...ALA Did he died? Let me know thanks. :D

  • Could be wing tip stall situation (if there was no authority) and near stall speed .

  • lil too much elevator.....simple

  • That was really sad. The plane even got a nice hug by it's proud owner before it went

  • Was it caught in a crosswind?

  • action at 3:30

  • Yup looks like he forced it into the air before wing was ready to fly and snapped it. Good luck on repairs and sorry about your crash.

  • Did it died?

  • If only he flew electric, he could have avoided all that bullshit leading up to that 1.5 second flight. }}))3:35(({{

  • @Bradentucky yea i shoul do it for the sound ...amazing!

  • @Bradentucky Blind electric fanboyism only makes you an asshole, bro. Some of us like our engines.

  • @Bradentucky Besides you'd just replace it with the bullshit of dealing with highly explosive 300 dollar batteries, 500 dollar chargers and speed controllers that go up in smoke if they're not carefully watched. You're not gaining anything.

  • @Bradentucky But it was SO COOL!! If I flew RCs it would look like that every single time. Except a hamster would be the pilot.

You could definitely chop your hand off with that.

    It has BRAKES??

  • @Bradentucky

do the electric planes have good power/acceleration? and how long can they stay in the air before the battery is drained?

  • @Bradentucky Lol I was thinking the same thing.

  • @Bradentucky Hey man, that bullshit is a lot of fun if you're a nitro guy :) I fly both electrics and nitros, and honestly my love for engines makes that "bullshit" a big chunk of the fun of the hobby. Just a matter of taste I guess

  • @woodfit. Dude you must be moronic, even I know that the best test to see if you engine's running lean is to put it at full throttle and hold it nose up... and I fly tiny 46cu size planes(~8cc). You tell me how to do that while holding your transmitter and keeping a firm grip on the plane.

  • Look at the elevator guys... the pilot never gets the tail up so has too much angle of attack and stalls (unusually) the starboard wing. Even when the plane is inverted you can see the up elevator. There may also be an incidence problem - more on starboard wing than port.

Cut him a bit of slack though - it was cold - we don't work at best efficiency when cold!

  • Hey - woodfit. If you look very close, that is a transmitter.

  • gahahaha mike lee version in our club :)

  • I agree with 440centerline especialy with an at-6 hrvard trainer

  • Shame about the plane but I think your safety needs looking at, stupid place to leave your receiver with the engine at half throttle and THEN to pick it up , it beggers belief !!!! If that had slipped out of one of your hands it would have taken one of your limbs off and it wouldnt have stopped, I fly a Sukhoi 26m with a CrrC 42cc engine and I would NEVER dream of doing that, its called respect,

  • @woodfit dude, come on, its a free country, if he chops his finger he chops his finger off, but he didnt so its none of your concern of where his TRANSMITTER is. P.S.

  • @woodfit dude, come on, its a free country, if he chops his finger he chops his finger off, but he didnt so its none of your concern of where his TRANSMITTER is.

  • It looks very cold there.

  • don't try the rolling maneuver until after a few trim passes and a bit more altitude

  • Comment removed

  • His ailerons were going the right way (can see in video)

I have reversed my aileron servo wires, and it doesn't look anything like this crash..

I had minor damage to rudder. and canopy...

This guy pannicked and pulled WAY too much elevator... SNAPED the plane in the ground....

  • so much anticipation

  • Wow! What a retard.

  • @Leason47 I know. He's such a failure at flying.

  • ailerons reversed?

  • i dont know much bout this stuff but a suggestion is to much power on take off? cos thats what happens to the ww2 plane such as spitfire, mustang, warhawk etc.

  • Snap roll is the more appropriate term here.. possible wing incidence problem. Looks like a nice bird! Midwest kit possibly? Whatever the result it wasn't too bad and can be repaired easily, if it really did much damage at all.

I doubt that he pulled right aileron and elevator at the same time.. more like pulling back too early and too hard. Been there, done that with the same result many moons ago! You'll get her up again! Give it a long rollout and EASE back on the stick.. you'll be A ok!

  • Looks like he pulled right aileron at the same time he pulled elevator.

  • is it wrong this video gave me a boner?

  • ailerons reversed or something? did you kill the motor, or did it die on its own before it hit?

  • i think pilot died

  • While we are on name calling, You are a real DICKWEED. NO,I NEVER WAS A MANUFACTURER OF GIANT SCALE R/C. NO, I NEVER DID GIANT SCALE RACING WITH 4 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW! NO,I NEVER HAD MORE THAN 13 AT6'S IN THE PITS AT ONE TIME.I COULD GO ON FOR SOME TIME, BUT YOU, ASSWIPE, ARE SIMPLY NOT WORTH THE EFFORT!.

  • what a muppet

  • GROUND LOOP!

  • @docbipe do you even know what a ground loop is fucking retard

  • this nice plane was angry about the terrible sound of the engine, he wants a big 4 stroke!

  • That's a shame but to be honest it could have been much worse. I done the same thing to a cap 232 and it was smashed into splinters upto the back of the wing. You got off light.

  • instead of wasting almost 3 minutes showing us how hard the plane was to start and the subsequent warm up, just trim it back and show take off and crash.

  • WAY to WINDY --- Should have tried another day...... Hmmmm

  • from what i saw and experience, he got abit panic when it start to drift to the left and then he pull eleva too soon instead of rudder back straight or even do both correct with rudder and pull down throttle or even may be restart the take off. it was not a bad crash.

  • SORRY BUT THAT WAS FUNNY

  • SORRY BUT THAT WAS FUNNY

  • nice plane.

    to bad it crashed.

wish you luck with the repairs

  • OOOOOOOPPPPPSSSSSSSSSS

  • If the plane is already in the air, do not cut the engine off. But i guess you know that now.

    good luck next time ;)

  • Easy to do , done it myself. Needed to keep her on the ground and rolling until she had flying speed. One holds the tail down that bit too long and there is enough prop wash to lift the nose and lift the now stalled wing, and over she goes. Quick rudder can save the day but we all instinctively hold on full aileron, which does nothing of course - the wing is fully stalled. Always a pain in the butt.

  • @Rincypoopoo I have a RC AT-6 as well, a little smaller than this one (.56 4 stroke).

I totally agree, been there too. Rudder is the only way to save the day.

    Cheers from The Netherlands

  • sorry

  • ailerons were full to the left all the way during that roll. looks like a plain stall on the right wing to me. not enough airspeed.

  • could the wings have iced up?

  • The little plane that co....... oh shit 3:35

  • i laughed at his misfortune

  • Good reason for a better paint job too?

  • Looks like a heap of right rudder to keep it online plus some elevator to rotate.

Lets review, full power, low airspeed, rudder[right] and elevator and maybe a little tail heavy?

Perfect combination for a snap roll - who agrees?

  • @tomview1 That will do it every time, model or full scale, they all obey the same laws of aerodynamics.

  • @klesmer too right Klesman!!

  • @tomview1 I am speaking from experience, early in my modeling career I did the same thing. Low airspeed, lots of rudder and elevator = snap roll = lots of airplane parts.

  • @klesmer Same here dude!! We live and learn!!

  • Respond to this video... At least he can give it a decent paint job now.

  • Wind + Rain = No good flying day. Especially for RC Planes.

  • I doubt it was reversed ailerons as he did a check, looks to me like he took off to early without enough groundspeed and it simply stalled over the right wing when he pulled up. Completely understandable being a maiden and not knowing the plane, atleast there wasn't alot of damage.

  • who died?

  • Let it roll, let it roll, let it roll, gain speed then take off slowly.

  • The engine is rubber mounted so ya it's gonna move....no biggy

  • ok. . . .Anybody see that engine rotate first time he throttled up on stand? Or is it possible that rotation of prop created an optical illusion?

  • @Booozsht Yes I saw it, at about 1:42. But with many of these planes they have fake (read "replica") engine covers to make the plane look more realistic. So the piece rotating may not have been the actual engine but rather just a plastic piece that covers the engine.

  • Took off too early trying to pull up too quickly will cause that as well. I know Because it happend to me almost just like this

  • He cuts the throttle before crashing indicating that this is an experienced pilot. There was no weathervaning to the right, showing no problem with right crosswind.I think reversed aileron. I don't think there are too many pilots that could catch reversed aileron fast enough for a recovery

  • At 01:49 he is checking aileron movement. But I don't think he thought out the response. It looks like classic aileron reversal. Of course this has never happened to me...

  • I bet it was reversed servos on the ailerons ....Just my cheap shot at it.

  • i felt the same way when mine got hit by a car lol

  • do it again! do it again!

  • On your preflight, you should never ever check the direction of travel for the control surfaces. Only check out that engine. Glad you don't fly for United.

  • Too low for a barrel roll.

  • lucky that not more happened! could be a total crash.

  • regardless of what comments ,,it appeared to be underpowered and tail heavy ,,and yes the takeoff was too steep ,,but the pane was doomed ,anyway ,,and you never maiden in strong winds even when they are down the runway.

  • @norm53 It sounds like good power, and good airspeed. How do you know what the balance was?

  • Well shit

  • I would say it looked like a " commanded " roll . This means it was reversed ailerons , radio glitch , or old fashioned " finger trouble " . Im picking it may have been the later , whilst tyring to battle the cross wind . Shame , nice plane .

  • Pitched up abruptly at too low an airspeed and stalled the right wing, controls being crossed because the pilot was panicking during the abrupt swing on takeoff.

  • I'm callin that a torque roll for sure

  • not too good at crosswind take-offs I see

  • whats up with the funky paint job???

  • Oh, he was gonna say; "why in the hell isnt this shit starting?" it already starts off bad

  • It was ugly anyway, but after the crash it was even uglier. By the way, next time a plane rolls on you like that, hit DOWN elevator when its upside down. I can see that the elevator was straight when it was inverted. I would have hit DOWN elevator and got some altitude and then hold the aelerons over to the left.

  • Torque roll perhaps?

  • Oh yeah, DEFINITELY the wind. There's absolutely nothing else it could have possibly been!

  • dommage

  • These are one of those stubborn old farts you see in a hobby shop. The kind that talks all this nonsense, and we get to see him in action, great video!

  • @tisoy909 LOL!

  • I waited all that time for a 3 second crash

  • @supernoob6 ...and it wasn't even destroyed in a fireball or anything.
