01 Opeth - Lamentations - Windowpane [Very HQ]

I bought the Collector's Box, which had Lamentations as an impulse buy a couple of summers ago. The first 2 CDs I listened to were Lamentations. The next week I bought The Candlelight Years. Now Opeth is almost always on my MP3 player.

This was the first performance, and song, I'd ever heard by Opeth; obviously been a fan ever since. No offense to any other person in the band at the time, I know Mike is the driving force, but as a drummer, Lopez was the stand out for me. Once I heard him play drums I had become immersed. Axe is a great drummer, probably more technical than Lopez, but there is just something about Lopez's drumming that I can't describe. He creates this atmosphere I want to be a part of. Does that make sense?

This song is a fucking masterpiece. Everything about it, the vocals, the drumming, the arpeggios. The solos are not impossible, but they fit the song so well they give me chills. I love it

Love tis band! i prefer the older records (Morningrise, MAYH, Still Life), and wish there were more live- recordings from the time before Blackwater Park. Imagine When Live in 1998, or Moonlapse Vertigo Live 1999.
